I'm not kidding.

I don't expect Jon Stewart to be considered or even if his contractural obligations would allow him to be considered but, in my view, he is the absolute best pick to take the MTP helm.

3. Oh, MAN! That would indeed be a dream come true. And it is definitely not going
to happen.

A shame, too.

2. Absolutely. This guy is tough and talks about the issues, as opposed to gotchas

6. Yes.
Most importantly, Stewart appreciates and respects the critical role journalists have to play in this democratic system...and has the skill, thoughtfulness, toughness, and wit to pull it off.

Imagine that... A one-time Comedy Central jock at the helm of the Sunday Talk Shows, and doing it right. Sadly, it's only a dream.

"So, what do you want to talk about?"...lets the guest hang for some seconds, then starts in....

9. She would be excellent at it but that won't happen.
If they pick Matthews they might as well wrap up the show because they will probably lose most of the viewership.

8. If you are in a betting mood, I don't think the
suits at GE/NBC really want to replace him with someone who can fill his shoes. I feel that they are going to look for someone with more infotainment experience like Katie Couric or someone else who can fluff up the show into the confection that they prefer to pass on as an in depth news show. Tim Russert is a product of an earlier era of real journalists and I have noticed that as those dinosaurs leave the networks they are replaced with people who read but don't actually know what news is.

11. Holy crap is that a good idea.
While we're dreaming, I'd like to suggest Bill Moyers.

13. Jon Stewart
and I completely concur. I've seen him enough in his serious state to know that he is very aware of the issues and that he really cares about resolving them and heck, a little levity once in a while couldn't hurt any news show so when he would occasionally get smart alecky, I think it would do the show good.
