Has it been confirmed that Russert was actually in Italy the last few days?

I know that's the official story being floated in the media, that he took his family to Rome, and this opens up the possibility of a Deep Vein Thrombosis or some other blood clotting being the cause of death.

But I have also heard that Tim was home in Buffalo, where he was moving his father into some sort of nursing home or assisted care facility. And that's from someone who lives in the Buffalo area.

Now I suppose it's possible that he could have moved his father and THEN gone to Italy, but it seems odd that you would do that to your father, and then immediately leave the country, since the obvious implication of such a move would be that Mr. Russert Sr's health was declining.

I'm trying to get verification on that end of things, but is there anyone here from Buffalo who might have heard something about this?

I don't want to go to tinfoil land just yet. But there's two stories here that seem to contradict each other. :shrug:

1. His doctor is on now saying he had known of Tim's coronary artery disease.

But had assumed they had had it under control.

3. I think I heard someone say his father was moved to a new facility

when Russert returned.

...who said he was shocked because he only had dinner with Russert in Rome on Tuesday. I haven't heard otherwise.

5. I think he moved his Dad a week or 2 ago, and then went to Rome with his

wife and son for his son's graduation. Take the tin foil hat off on this one.

He left early for his program, leaving his wife and son in Italy. They were still there when he died.

I think he put his dad in an assisted living facility 10 days ago, per Brokaw.
