What "Friday Night News Dump" is going unnoticed
due to the untimely death of Tim??

Am on NBC/MSNBC and don't know what the rats are trying to bury in this sadly opportune moment.

6. There would have been things that would have been missed anyway
I can understand MSNBC being so in depth about it, they are all trying to deal with it. The rest of the RW media wouldn't have reported it anyway.

11. 400 Talibani are free, what's the big whoop?
Edited on Fri Jun-13-08 06:07 PM by Mabus
It isn't as important as Russert dying.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/13/afghanistan

Officials in Afghanistan say militants have attacked the main prison in the southern city of Kandahar with a car bomb and rockets, killing police and setting nearly all of an estimated 1,150 prisoners free.

"All the prisoners escaped. There is no one left," said Wali Karzai, the brother of president Hamid Karzai and the president of Kandahar's provincial council.

Militants first exploded a water tanker near the entrance to the gate of the Kandahar prison, then several suicide bombers entered and detonated their explosives, crumbling two prison walls, Karzai said.

The prison holds common criminals but also some 400 Taliban militants, who have been fighting against Nato troops and the Afghan government.

13. And just after the inspirational visit by Laura
Afghanistan -- the "lost" war - when things could have been so different, if we had not been sidetracked by Dumbya into Iraq.

Wonder if they even know how bad things are there and if that is why they sent Laura to divert attention.

I HATE these screw-ups I HATE what has been wrought in our name. I HATE Bush. I HATE Laura for signing on to this failed "adventure."

OK - Homeland Security - put this geezer widow on your "watch" list. Presuming you are "watching" DU -- a safe bet, instead of "watching" real threats.

14. It breaks my heart
It really does. I think about all the people that have died as a result of this adminstraion and their screw-up and it just pisses me off. And, like you, to know it is done in our name hurts even more.

I hate all the little puppets who do their dirty work, divert attention and pretend to be compassionate.

fwiw, I gave up all pretense of privacy when I moved to the DC area earlier this year. I could use either Comcast or Verizon for my cable/telephone/internet service. I just figure I'm such a low priority on their list that they aren't worrying about me. At least, I have been banned from flying, yet.

15. I don't think they're using this coverage deliberately to bury the
Friday Night News Dump.. I think they are really distressed. Russert was "one of their own" in a profession that is famous for navel-gazing. That said, I'm sure there's LOTS of interesting stuff being passed over. There always is on a Friday evening.

Rachel Maddow's Monday radio show always devotes a segment to unearth the buried bits we need to know.

16. I just said to Mr. DTBK, this would be a good time for Asshole to bomb Iran
Since he's always threatening to - do you think they could tear themselves away for such an event?

Note: I can understand their sorrow and extensive coverage and don't fault them for it - nor am I hoping that Dumbass will attack Iran or any other hapless sovereign state)

17. Oh come on, if it was news worth knowing one wouldn't find it on cable news
any other time either.

Sure they are doing 24/7 coverage on Tim, but this has only interrupted reporting of some other very inconsequential non-news story anyway. Real news barely gets a mention on the tv.
