$4-a-gallon gas? Predictions surprise Bush
By Seattle Times news services

WASHINGTON — The bulletin reached President Bush toward the end of his news conference Thursday.

Peter Maer of CBS News Radio asked: "What's your advice to the average American who is hurting now, facing the prospect of $4-a-gallon gasoline, a lot of people facing ... "

"Wait, what did you just say?" the president interrupted. "You're predicting $4-a-gallon gasoline?"

Maer responded: "A number of analysts are predicting $4-a-gallon gasoline."

Bush's rejoinder: "Oh, yeah? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that."

Perhaps we should email him how much it is now, just to keep him in the loop.

3. The story was dated in February.
The amazing part is that it had never crossed his mind it might happen. Probably because he's never even noticed gas prices in his life.

6. It's already $4.60 per gallon today. That's the free market for you.
Cancerous cells are free too. They just grow and grow. Just saying.

7. Bush surprised about gas prices? Let's see.
-Exxon and Enron were major campaign contributors, yes?
-Bush is a long-term oilman with OPEC ties through daddy and the CIA.
-Daddy Bush and the CIA have been making deal with Iran and Iraq for years,
pitting them against each other through weapons sales, to soften the
region for takeover.
-They've taken over Iraq, one of the five largest oil deposits in the world
-The other four are the UAE, Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran. Three are in BushCo.
-BushCo are beating the drums for an Iranian invasion.
-BushCo do nothing against record oil profits. They vote against windfall
taxing.
-They knew about 9/11 and Katrina before they happened, as well, and again,
did absolutely nothing, just as they'll do about oil prices.
-Gas prices went down just before and during the 2006 election, then back
up and on and on, more than suggesting a rigged market ala' Enron's
fake energy crisis in California, and what Reagan/Bush did to Carter.

SURE, he's surprised that oil prices are going up. His buddies at Exxon and OPEC must be stunned beyond belief as well.

9. A station in San Diego is posting $4.93 for self serve regular.
7 more cents, and we've hit the $5.00 mark. Yes, Canada might be looking at $5.24 on average for their gallon (or 3.somthingorother litres), but they're at least not paying $400 to $800 a month for insurance premiums - take that out and your average Canadian's out of pocket monthly budget for a "health and gas" expense comparison is still less than the average American's. If you took out the cost per gallon going to your insurance and public transit, Canadians are probably paying closer to the equivalent of $3.20 a gallon.

And we just keep rolling along to fiscal Armageddon. Where the rich get rapture in their gated communities and the rest of us just fight for the crumbs outside.

10. His smart-arse "Oh, yeah?" shows both his indifference and his narcissism.
It's always about HIM.
