I thought this was another wonderful story about Obama's connection with our soldiers... however, knowing the ignorant-right-wing-prick-squad, they will probably try and spin this as another reason to fear the evil Obama man. So I thought it would be good to post this in case you run across someone who has been spun an inacurate version of this story - here's the story and photo:

Press Trust of India

Monday, June 9, 2008 (New York)

It's unusual. But, it's a fact. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic party's presidential nominee, is seeking the blessings of Lord Hanuman in his battle for the White House.

The 46-year-old senator from Illinois, who defeated his rival Hillary Clinton in an epic 17-month long electoral battle for Democratic party nomination, carries a ''tiny monkey god'' apparently representing ''Hanuman'' with him for good luck.

A recent photo posted on Time's White House Photo of the Day collection shows the first ever Black-American nominee in the race to the White House carries with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gambler's lucky chit, a tiny monkey god, tiny Madonna and child.

That ''tiny monkey god,'' of course, appears to be a statue of the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, says the posting but editors and the photographer has not identified it as such.

Obama, whose father was a Kenyan and mother a white woman from Kansas, spent initial days of his life in Indonesia where Hinduism is a popular religion.

In addition to a lucky penny, Republican candidate John McCain carries a lucky nickel, and a lucky rubber band, which he wears around his wrist.

6. Technically Hanuman is not a God. He comparable to Vohumana (good mind) of Zoroastrianism

Lord Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, complete surrender and absence of ego or the lower self.

This also what the GOP will twist. They will represent it as a complette surrender to the enemy. What it actually is. It's the complette surrender of your higher self (ego) to your lower self (needs and desires)to end internal conflict to obtain enlightenment. Obama kinda did that with his victory speech. He only mentioned himself once. So it's not absent ego (self identification.) But the rest was a surrender to the party base (lower self)and his pure devotion to us. It really wasn't about him. He made it about us.
