Pete Seeger | PBS | American Masters Please watch
Edited on Sun Jun-08-08 11:31 PM by higher class
An outstanding program, in my 'humble heartitude' of patriotism.

If you didn't watch, try to catch it on tape and take the time to get a good look and listen.

Oh so appropriate for our position in our country once again and over again.

Then - if you don't want the program to end - I recommend this:

Go to wikipedia for a short read about the song -

Where have all the flowers gone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_Have_All_the_Flowers_Gone

Then go to YouTube and listen again in this order:

Pete Seeger
Marlene Deitrich in English
Marline Deitrich in German
Joan Baez in German
Dolly Parton in English
There is more - create your own sundae.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhlOJm9nkwM (there are other Seeger videos singing this song).

We need to resurrect that song - and sing it loud on July 4th. Start practicng.

Oh our dear dark dangerous country -
we can have no crescendos.

Please write - call the papers. Write GE, Raytheon, Dyncorp, Exxon - no, please no. Tell your representative that we can't let Iran happen. Not all of us outside of Washington are imperialists and war mongering destroyers of a civilizations.

1. K&R When will they ever learn? God, I hope soon!
 Thank You! :patriot:

Lyrics
"Where have all the flowers gone,
Long time passing,
Where have all the flowers gone,
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone,
Young girls picked them every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn

Where have all the young girls gone,
Long time passing,
Where have all the young girls gone,
Long time ago,
Where have all the young girls gone,
gone to young men every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn

Where have all the young men gone,
Long time passing,
Where have all the young men gone,
Long time ago,
Where have all the young men gone,
gone to soldiers every one,
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn

Where have all the soldiers gone,
Long time passing,
Where have all the soldiers gone,
Long time ago,
Where have all the soldiers gone,
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn

Where have all the graveyards gone,
Long time passing,
Where have all the graveyards gone,
Long time ago,
Where have all the graveyards gone,
Gone to flowers every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn"

2. ok, and please watch the National Conference for Media Reform videos of Bill Moyers and Dan Rather
recorded yesterday. The Ariana Huffington video is not only informative, but also very funny.
