Dean on for another DNC term?
The other day in the paper there was a short blurb that Obama was going to keep Dean on as the DNC chairman. Sadly, this piece was one of those tiny little nuggets with not much depth.

I have not seen anything since and was wondering, is Dean staying on for another four years? And isn't the selection of the DNC chair done a little later on?

Just sort of confused at what it meant.

1. It was more of a ceremonial endorsement
If Hillary won the nomination, as the party's standard bearer, she could have asked Dean to step down and put one of her loyalists in his place. Dean has already said that he will step down if a Democrat wins the White House, because then the role of DNC changes, and becomes more political. Up to this point, it has been more organizational. I would love to see Dean in an Obama cabinet. He would be a great fit as HHS Secretary, considering his background and skills.

2. Four more years!!
Hell, 8 more years!!

Dean is rebuilding this party, and the 50 state strategy put Congress back in Democratic hands in 2006, and helped Obama beat the Clinton machine in 2008.

If it ain't broke, don't fuck with it.

Thank you Dr. Dean! :patriot:

3. Let's never forget this! THANK YOU, Dr. Dean!!!! His 50-State Strategy has paid off.
He got there in early 2005 and it started paying dividends in the very next election.

I remember going to an L.A. event, they called it a "DNC Listening Event" during which people in our area were invited to speak out to a traveling group of DNC members. The DNCers were collecting input about a new chairperson. Patriotic Hall downtown was packed. Standing room only - all afternoon. People drove in from everywhere - from miles around, from neighboring counties. Young people - college students, retirees, veterans, women of all ages, every creed and heritage, skin of all colors, hair of every style - and the absence thereof. Remarkable! And it was ALL about Howard Dean. Everybody wanted him. Out of all of us who raised our cards to vote, there were perhaps five to seven people there, total, who wanted Tim Roemer or somebody else. EVERYONE ELSE, by the hundreds, wanted the Good Doctor. It was overwhelming. And those who had a chance to speak, promoting Howard Dean, were absolutely adamant about it. I guess we made our feelings crystal clear.

I'm glad the DNC listened, for once.
