I am confident about this election, but I worry about 2012

I don't think any one is going to be able to fix the cluster fu** the republicans have gotten us in to. We are looking at 10-20 years minimum.

I guaran-freaking-tee you the DAY (maybe even the HOUR) after Obama is elected EVERY 24 hour repub news station will switch from "Things aren't so bad" to "We are completely fu**ed and look who is in office"

The REAL struggle is going to be the day after the election. It is going to be four years of non-stop "blame everything on the democrats" from the media. They are going to switch to full scale attack mode.

I would wager my entire retirement accounts the sheeple will go along with it with out thinking. It makes me sick.

1. You make good points. The thing is, with Dems controlling the
House and Senate, things will finally get done for a change. It'd be hard to argue with our country improving.

3. My thoughts exactly.
It's going to take more than 4 years to clean up 8 years of mess and disaster. When Obama is unable to cure what ails us overnight, he will be vilified.

People really don't pay that close attention to what is happening in their government. I don't expect miracles from Obama. I will be satisfied to see the clown car pull up on 1/20/09 and cart off that bunch of twits who call themselbves our leaders. That to me will be victory.

If Obama can get us out of Iraq and make some small gains in health care, I will consider that a success. Some may not think it enough, but in comparison to what the other side is offering, it is huge.

4. I haven't seen you here for a month or so....
I was expecting a story about how you had talked to people about this issue and they all agreed.

I knew it would be a somewhat dire post - I was right on that account anyway.

5. Way back at the start of the primary season I said the same thing

The next president is never going to be able to clean out the stench of bush in a single term. If he doesn't make a good start on turning the country around he is going to take a ration of shit from the press (especially if it is Obama).

It would help of course if he has a Democratic congress to work with. He can get the reforms passed early in his term that might show some results by 2012. It would also help if begins investigations/criminal prosecutions/civil actions against those who are responsible for the damage done to our country and our constitution over the past 8 years.

6. Republicans depend on amnesia of the voters...
That's how they plan on winning. The candidates that run look nothing like their Party once they are elected. I have seen the McCain commercial 3 or 4 times today and the Bob Shaefer commercial 2 or 3 times and they look like nobody we know. McCain shows all the footage of himself as a POW and Shaefer shows himself as a native Coloradoan that need to go to Washington to clean it up?? It would look very acceptable to those that do not know their records. They re-invent themselves when they screw up the country hoping that the people will forget all the bad shit they did and electthe brand new shiny Republican.

7. but even with their incessant Bush-pushing 80% know things are fucked up
Slowly the public is catching on. The RW media doesn't hold the sway it once did.
BUT WE MUST KEEP THE INTERNET OPEN AND AVAILABLE! so folks can get real information.

The last 8 years were NOTHING like the 8 years before Clinton.
