4. Same for us here in Milwaukee. Just came up from being in
the basement. Everything looks alright. Just front yard is flowing with water, and it's still raining.

NUMEROUS SUPERCELLS...MANY TORNADIC...PERSIST ACROSS THE QUAD STATE
REGION FROM SRN MN/IA INTO WI/IL. ONE PARTICULARLY LONG TRACK
TORNADO IS MOVING NEWD INTO THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO OVER SRN COOK
COUNTY. THIS STORM IS SPREADING ACROSS A REGION OF STRONG LOW LEVEL
HELICITY WHERE LOW LEVEL FLOW IS LOCALLY BACKED ALONG SRN FRINGE OF
LAKE MI. NEEDLESS TO SAY ENVIRONMENT ACROSS NRN IL IS QUITE RIPE
FOR ADDITIONAL TORNADIC STORMS. FARTHER NORTH...ADDITIONAL TORNADIC
STORMS ARE SCATTERED FROM SRN WI...SWWD INTO NRN IA ALONG AN
EXPANDING ZONE OF PRECIPITATION. IT APPEARS WITH TIME SEVERAL LARGE
MCS CLUSTERS WILL EVOLVE...MOST LIKELY OVER SRN WI INTO LOWER
MI...WITH ANOTHER ELONGATED MCS EXPECTED TO EVOLVE FROM NRN IA INTO
SWRN IA.

2. This has been the craziest tornado season I've ever seen
and I don't think it's very fair that the city known for ridiculous wind should also have to deal with tornadoes. :(

Stay safe Chicago

5. We're under a tornado watch until 11:00 pm.
Stay safe everyone.

My sister's at a 65th wedding anniversary party in Indiana and I'm a bit worried about her. They're extending the tornado warning into Lake County, IN and that's where she is.

The reports on the tv are that it hit Park Forest, Richton Park etc about 25 minutes ago.

Tornado Reported in South Suburbs
CHICAGO (STNG) ― A tornado has been reported Saturday night in south suburban Monee. At 6:04 p.m., a "large tornado" touched the ground just southwest of Monee and is moving northeast at 26 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

"We are tracking a large tornado that is still on the ground," meteorologist Gino Izzi said at 6:20 a.m. "Most tornados are on the ground for a minute or two, but they can last up to an hour. This one has been on the ground for a while."

Izzi said the tornado has entered Cook County. The tornado is expected to approach Frankfort, Richton Park, Matteson, Park Forest, Olympia Fields, Steger, Crete and Chicago Heights about 6:30 p.m., the weather service said.

The tornado's path cannot be predicted with precision, but Izzi said the tornado has been moving steadily to the northeast and is expected to continue to do so. (tiny bit more including basements everyone) (now)

8. The season has just started and its been crazy in Illinois
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 07:21 PM by Robbien
Illinois is not even part of tornado ally. We are just supposed to get the strays which wander out of the ally, but this year it seems we are smack dab in the middle of tornado country.

9. I used to like summer thunderstorms but ...
... over the past couple summers they have gotten more ferocious, the lightning more intense and strikes more numerous, and the wind/rain downright frightening.

As if Gaia is really, really pissed and trying with all her might to blow us off of her surface like the ticks we are. :scared:

Central IN this week has been like living in the Swiss Family Robinson, trying to save my house from the elements.
No electricity for 5 days, a basement full of mud ... I'm exhausted. :(

Be safe everyone! O8)
