But that was 45 minutes ago. He was being interviewed on Book TV (c-span2) about his new book. And I can say 45 minutes later, I'm pretty impressed.

He started out talking about how we can't just switch over immediately to a single payer healthcare program. But then he started talking about ways to achieve it. If there was a one, best option for health insurance, single payer is it. But, there's too much opposition to it. He started talking about ways to undermine that opposition, and make it to single payer incrementally. He said if we don't do that, we'll still be trying to find ways to cover people 30 years from now.

1. Many will be surprised to learn that it was a Daschle, Durbin and Kerry team that networked Obama

into a national force for a primary run. Long before the first vote in Iowa. They did it for the good of our party and the country.

Daschle will BE the head of HHS if he wants it. He has always been mischaracterized and blamed excessively for the state of a party left in total collapse by its party's best known faces. Funny how that worked out for them.
