WTH? LA Times Criticizes Keith Olbermann - Defends O'Reilly
It must be that time of the year. The Conservatives complain about the liberal press while the press, particularly Fox News and ABC, being their work as the propaganda arm of the GOP. Of course, we have now gotten to the point where Fox's bias is taken for granted, so when a slightly progressive voice appears in the mainstream media, the mainstream media throws a hissy fit. Here is the latest:

1. Sure O'Lielly invites dissenters. Of course he doesn't let them speak .
And Olbermann is over the top sometimes, especially re: Fox Noise and BushCo., but who doesn't enjoy watching the Niedermeyers of the world get their comeuppance?

2. Wow, the idiots are manning the battle stations, aren't they?
"News Nihilists"? What the fuck????????? :wtf:

What kind of SHIT is that???? "This trio has spent the election season heckling Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton from deep inside Sen. Barack Obama's hip pocket"??

Nihilists don't believe in ANYTHING. Keith believes in SOMETHING. That appears to be Howard Rosenberg's problem with him.

He makes fun of McCain's grammar?? Why not??

He thinks Keith would "slip on Groucho brows" to get a laugh? Flash, Mr. R: they aren't fake, those are Keith's REAL eyebrows.

What a huffy, stuffy old grouch!

Not only that, but he seems to think all you need is "a wisecrack here and a hard growl there" to imitate Keith. Um, no.

He says "Thoughts of Olbermann surfaced when I was at the gym early one morning working out with my fellow macho men." Now THAT's funny.

This guy is a Trojan horse. He claims to say he dislikes Bush, but then says Keith is only slightly better than Billo. Somehow, Billo is better because he has guests on who disagree with him--"if only to disembowel them"--but Countdown is "an echo chamber."

I have a new nominee for News Critic Asshole of the Year.

3. LA Times became a right-wing rag when the Chicago Tribune
owned them for several years and was most recently purchased by another right-winger, Sam Zell. The newspaper became about 10% news and 90% ads, so I canceled it months ago. Anything of importance is on their website, but the editorial content and general tone is now very right wing--such a shame as it was once a great newspaper.

4. Olbermann must be starting to really get to some of the corporate
shills posing as journalist. They use to be able to ignore KO before but now since he's moved up in the ratings people have taken notice and are getting worried. If the shills had been doing their jobs for the last 8 years we wouldn't need Olbermnn, Stewart and Colbert.

6. You can see how worried they are because the AP actually picked up this Olbermann Watch shit
about Keith not paying his taxes, and now it's being picked up and echoed by all the Repug newspapers around the country.

Blog smear shit, and they're picking it up and repeating it.

9. How do you know he hasn't?
In the original article on this the MSNBC spokesperson states the debt was the result of a disagreement between KO's accountants and NY state and was resolved months ago. NY says the debt is "still open" but judging by what I've just read about NYers waiting till November for a rebate promised them in August, the NY state dept of taxation doesn't seem to be swifter about resolving cases that involve no net $$ to them than any other government dept.

8. Howard Rosenberg was also a sports commentator at one time.
Perhaps he has an axe to grind with Keith Olbermann, who has been known to be a critic of other sport's commentators when he feels they don't know what they are talking about. Sometimes Keith is harsh. Also, LA Times took a hard pull to the right a few years ago, one reason I no longer read it.

10. I read that and thought "They need some DUers to write to them and explain why we love Keith"...
...but I was too tired to do it myself. I hope that some of you do. Personally I was driven to watching Keith Olbermann from the sheer despair of watching the MSM completely ignore issues such as the destruction of our Constitution and the lies and scandals of the Bush Admin. I know KO is snarky, but jeez, times are desperate, and the only other voice seems to be Bill Moyers of PBS.

Hekate

13. Here's the thing these guys don't understand...
We know about KO's leanings, we know he hates Bush, we know he is basically on our side.

It's different with him because he doesn't profess to be "fair and Balanced" or an "independent" as that other two other guys mentioned, Dobbs and O'Rielly.

KO is an hour of fun and frolic with some good interviews kicked in for good measure.

I just find it refreshing that their is finally one voice speaking up for our side after suffering for what, ten years with no one from the left even "raising an eyebrow'.

Fuck this guy.

16. WC's hammer strikes nail-head: **Wham**...and we have a winner!
Hit it right on the head, WC -- Olberman is what he advertises himself to be, and, at that, he's probably the single media voice of serious outgrage about the Matterhorn-sized pile of right-wing horseshit that's piled up over the past decade.

Liberal media my keester.

Way to nail it, WC! :toast:

18. Exactly! KO Is The Lone Mainstream Voice That Really Pushes Back
Fox News is an entire netword devoted to liberal bashing. Disney/ABC bashes liberals in spurts just before the election. Even MSNBC had Joe Scarborough. This is why it is insane to rip on KO for liberal bias. He provides a viewpoint that is sorely lacking in mainstream media today. Also, he is pretty honest about his bias.

Piss on these assholes. One voice in the wilderness and they are all tears and whining.
