Are we sending anything to Hillary?
I tried to get people to send stuff to Byrd after he went to the hospital last week and that went poop.

But, should we send her something?

Thank you notes?

Something else that signifies unity?

Any ideas?

1. How 'bout we unite in a fund drive to help pay campaign staffers?
I wasn't a supporter of hers but she ran a kickass campaign and she's done a great job uniting the party today.

...if we should send something.

7. the clinton campaign chose to run for much longer than was rational
and knew good and well the financial hole they were digging.

Unless and until someone holds a benefit to bail ME out of MY irrational moves I'm not seeing a good reason to bail them out of theirs.

8. Bulls**it.
She ran a nasty rovian campaign that did the party much harm and overspent her budget like she was selling T-bills to China. What she did today was self preservation because the writing on the wall of an Obama landslide let her know that the only possible future for her is to FINALLY get with the damned program. If she truly wanted to unify the party then she would have done it in a much more timely manner.

Her money problems are because of her own incredibly poor management and neither she nor her zombie hit men staffers are getting a penny from me.

27. I have compromised twice so far in this campaign for unity.
When Kucinich was forced out and when Edwards gracefully bowed out.

I am on my third choice.

I never stamped my foot and said I would vote for mcsame if my candidate didn't get the nomination.

hilbots are STILL harming the party.

Screw your attitude.

29. My attitude?
Why not calm down a minute and allow those of us who want to do something have this thread to talk about it?

Also, I suggested (in #18) that instead of donating to Hillary, people could donate to a local food bank in the name of "Democratic Unity".

31. The way to Democratic unity
is to unify behind real Democrats, not "middle way", rethuglican light, DINO's like the clintons.

8 years of being sold out by a clinton is more than enough.

32. I agree with your sentiment...
...and respect your passion.

But, none of this will happen if we don't win.

Right now--in this thread--we're trying to figure out a way to thank Hillary Clinton for her endorsement and concession speech.

Tomorrow we work on winning.

34. Her begrudging and tepid concession speech
only continues her commitment to a mcsame presidency and further fans the flames of her cult to work AGAINST Obama's campaign.

If you don't believe me, look at the comments on CNN.com or any internet discussion site from her cultists.

SHE had the responsibility to unify the party and DID NOT DO IT.

I have been working on winning for the Democratic Party since the primaries of 1972. Don't lecture me on being a Democrat.

13. Randi was talking about this yesterday -
responding to someone with the same concerns (Hey! Was that you?).

Bottom line, in the real world, it's the price of politics and if it helps to defeat McCain in November, then it's money well spent.

16. There are a lot of firsts in this Democratic race...
...African American wins the nomination and a woman within less than 10% of the total vote count as the second place finisher.

The other first, that I see, is graciously welcoming the former opponent.

You know the saying they always attribute to liberals: "we eat our own"? People say that because when we have the chance to welcome a defeated opponent, we usually don't.

Let's be gracious this time.

30. The best way to defeat mcbusholini
is to repudiate rovian, clintonian, slash and burn, corporofascist, enemy of The People politricks.

Obama's courageous denial of corporofascist lobbyist buy out is a beginning.

11. I think we should contribute to Obama campaign.
As Dr. Dean said:
Just imagine what hundreds of thousands of Americans donating $20, $30, or $50 at a time can accomplish together. Imagine the signal that it sends to anyone who looks at John McCain's political machine and the special interest money it needs to fuel every move it makes.

We have a chance to change the way business is done in this country, and we're taking the lead. Will you join us and make a contribution right now to help us elect Barack Obama?

As a gesture of unity, why don't we make a donation to a local food bank and do it in the name of "Democratic Unity"?

A symbolic breaking of the bread, so to speak.

So I'm just having a "conversation" with you, not shooting down any suggestions -- I hope you know that.

Again, I think your idea to do something is BRILLIANT. Will make a big statement, help heal, show that we truly DO want unity, and scare the hell out of the Republicans with our show of solidarity! :patriot:

25. You mean how to donate to the food bank specifically? because i said I like htat idea.
The food banks are regionally based 501(c)3's. My mom told me that donating to the national umberella org (a distinct 501c3 itself) will have money distributed to a general pot that benefits all the regional orgs. If you're interested in benefitting your region's food bank directly you need to donate directly to them.

Do you want me to compile a list of contacts or see if there's a specific way to add up how many donations go to the 'thank you/dem unity' message?

Let me know how I can help.

Put a sticker on cans of food? Or, a note with a certain phrase?

As someone who knows, what do you suggest is the best way to donate?

36. Look, HRC has unlimited earning potential.
She has not been left destitute. I am not sorry for her that she put her campaign into 30M debt, and I am convinced that she can recover from the money she loaned her campaign.

Now, Ed McMahon, he's about to move into a cardboard box... him, I worry about.
