John McCain is a huge ABBA fan? WTF?
http://weblogs.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/blog/2008/06/john_mccain_abba_fan.html

"John McCain is a huge ABBA fan.''

That's what we're learning today at the candidate's new campaign blog, The McCain Report.

Of course, the Abba anthem displayed there, Take a Chance on Me, provides the perfect soundtrack for the headline on the blog: "Take a Chance on McCain.''

And this blog-entry is directed at a very specific audience on this day that Hillary Clinton finally bows to Barack Obama: "Attention disaffected Hillary supporters, John McCain is a huge ABBA fan. Seriously.''

With this report just in Friday from AZCentral.com:

"Sure, you may know where Sen. John McCain stands on such issues as health care and abortion. But on Friday morning, he took a bold stand on one of the most controversial issues of the day.

"The man loves ABBA.

8. He can pick "Fernando" for his running mate.
Fernando will say "I do I do I do".

The election will happen and "The winner takes it all".

That will be his "Waterloo"

9. That's Going To Ruin That Song For Me
and I just loved it the segment of The Office with it. But if it becomes McCain's song, I will grow weary of it quickly.

12. I remember hearing this , urghhhh
During the Republican primary, a reporter said that McCain didn't like one of the songs being played, and asked specifically if they could play Abba's "Take a chance on Me", and his campaign was horrified but they did it.

15. hopefully ABBA will come out and demand that mccain stop using their song.....
....i love it when these dumbass repukes try to be hip by using a rock or pop tune and then the artist speaks out and says something like, "hey, i hate the republican party....stop using my song".

19. God, what a dick:
"It gets expensive in a big hurry and if you’re not careful you can alienate some Swedes,” he joked.“If word gets out to Stockholm that we’re using Abba music, then there’ll be a
worsening in U.S.-Swedish relations.”

ABBA has every right to be pissed. It's called "getting permission from the artist to use a performer's song or music first before using it yourself", McDick.

20. If he uses any of their songs,
he's even closer to being toast than he is now. Leaving aside that campaign songs are an extremely corny concept, the worst thing you can do is annoy a potential voter.

25. i have a feeling McCorpse will be running into brick walls no matter...
...which song he tries to use. he'll have to settle for ted nugent if he wants a rock song. maybe "Stormtroopin" will be the most fitting:

In the early morning hours there's a din in the air;
Mayhem's on the loose.
Stormtroopers comin', and you better be prepared.
Got no time to choose.

Get ready. Get ready. Get ready.
Stormtroopers comin'.
Get ready. Get ready. Get ready.
Stormtroopers comin'.
Get ready.

*They're comin' up the* street, jackboots steppin' high.
Got to make *your* stand.
*They're* looking in your windows and *listenin'* to your phone.
Keep a gun in your hand.
