Are BushCo bringing to us the collapse of the Western Economy?
They tried to destroy it on 9/11. Now they're using the tipping point of oil prices and how the economy is tied into it to profit wildly (disaster capitalism) and also to attempt to create the Republican domination/unaccountability in control that they've always wanted.

What you destroy, you can rebuild in your image, if you have enough resources to outlast the destruction.

These problems may be far from over, folks. Katrina on at minimum a national scale. Smirking beyond your worst nightmares.

Tell me I'm wrong. I've been right on some major issues, such as gas prices being completely at the whim of BushCo, etc. We must impeach and prosecute, now.

1. You're correct. Destroying the middle-class and looting the treasury have
been just two of their core tenants. Creating chaos for profit is yet another.

inflationary period begins. Will not peak until mid-2009 or early 2010.

Sooner or later we need to start using the 'D' word because this is not merely an economic recession. Thank God the new deal did put in place safety nets which the economy is now relying on otherwise there would truly be panic in the streets.

But just ask any Depression era survivor. The foreclosures are worse now then they were during the great depression. At least then we had the drought causing the dust bowl to blame for many of the farm foreclosures. Now we just have dishonest lenders

4. I think the panic is yet to come.
Another $20 on oil and a 2000 point decline in the DJIA and people will begin to panic. When businesses start to close their doors because they see no opportunity for profit, and unemployment begins to accelerate, you will see panic. Watch the airlines and the retail chains. They are key. If people quit spending, the US could become an economic wasteland.

8. Then they get blamed for "causing it by panicking people and spreading doom & gloom defeatism"
and so forth.

17. Naming problems is the only way to solve them.
A Democratic president does not need to announce the depth of a problem if they can name it to themselves and others who can and will do something about it.

7. I agree. This has the feeling of late 1979 and 1980 to it.

Back then you could just feel the nasty recession/depression coming. I lived in MI then, so it was a depression to us in 1981 and 1982.

Here is the only difference. Fed chair Paul Volcker used 21% interest rates to kill off inflation back then. Helicopter Ben won't do that this time around and hyperinflation will be the result beginning right around late 2009 or 2010.

3. If there is anyone that should be labeled A Manchurian Candidate
or the Enemy Within it's Bush, look at the damage he's done nobody that cares about america could have been so negligent and irresponsible. He initiated two wars and cut taxes, doubled the national debt, Got the military stuck in the middle of an Arab Country in which it's bad if they leave and even worse if they stay. Allowed a major american city to drown and could care less if it's reconstucted...and on and on. He's done damage to this country that Bin Laden could only dream about.
