Britain:Bush will face protests and demands he be charged as a war criminal
Who's the last visitor Brown needed at a time like this? Step forward George Bush
By Colin Brown, Deputy Political Editor
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/whos-the-last-visitor-brown-needed-at-a-time-like-this-step-forward-george-bush-842073.html

George Bush will face protests and demands that he be charged as a war criminal over the Iraq conflict when he makes his final visit to Britain as US President next weekend.

Mr Bush and the first lady, Laura Bush, will be entertained by the Queen at Windsor Castle during the state visit and will have dinner at Downing Street with Gordon Brown.

But leading voices in the worlds of the arts and politics, including the novelist Iain Banks, the artist David Gentleman and the human rights campaigner Bianca Jagger, have now joined forces to call for Mr Bush to face a war crimes trial in the Hague.

(snip)
Andrew Murray, the chair of the Stop the War Coalition, said: "George Bush should be in The Hague facing war crimes charges over the hundreds of thousands of civilians killed in Iraq since 2003, not being entertained in Downing Street. Gordon Brown doesn't need a policy brief for this meeting, just a pair of handcuffs."

2. Why is he being "entertained by Gordon Brown?" Dreadful....and the last time Chimp went there
he tore up the Queen's Rose Garden and it was a security disaster. I can't believe they are welcoming that WAR CRIMINAL given that the last one had to Vacate the PM's Office. SHEESH. Maybe there really is something to this "Royalty Cabal" with Chimp being related to the Hapsburgs or whatever...

3. He tore up the queen's rose garden?
Was that for security? My heavens, why doesn't the man go down to Paraquay and stay there. (Or wherever it is he's set up for his exile.)

4. Yes...the Queen was quite pissed about it all....
There were many DU posts about it at the time, years ago, and links to the Brit Newspapers describing what the SS and other Bush Security did to the grounds.

8. Tony Blair & his cohorts can be charged with War Crimes.
Britain is signed onto the World Court & The Intl. Law but the USA is not.

10. Hey, leave Paraguay alone! They just elected a LEFTIST, ousting 60 years of
rightwing rule! Paraguay thus joins the vast majority of South America's democratic, social justice, leftist governments (Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, PARAGUAY, and a bit to the north, Nicaragua and Guatemala, and next year El Salvador), and, in doing so, Paraguay's voters threw a monkey wrench into Bushite war plans against neighbor Bolivia (white racists trying to split off Bolivia's gas/oil rich eastern provinces from the Evo Morales government--first indigenous president of Bolivia, to deny benefit of those resources to the poor, indigenous majority), for the new president of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, wants to the U.S. air base and U.S. military activities out of his country.

No more comfortable fascist enclave for Bushites to escape to. Paraguay also rescinded its immunity for the U.S. military and its non-extradition law. I guess the Bushites will have to go join the death squads and drug lords they have been supporting in Colombia. Or flee to the sheiks of Araby? That's where Halliburton went. Or maybe they could go live with the Queen. They can't send the Queen to the Hague, can they? And Windsor must provide some kind of sanctuary for U.S. war criminals. They could never step outside the castle again, though.

11. With this kind of outcry, phones are ringing off the hook all over England.
This is going to be a fiasco and I can't wait.

Fish, chips and pints all around.

12. The Stop the War Coalition are to be expected.
The question is, will they be able to get people out in decent numbers? People over here are more riled about rising food and fuel prices and the botched abolition of the 10p tax rate for the least well off at the moment.
