I just thought this was interesting and it includes some nice pictures from campaign stops.

1. that is kind of cool
i've been up close to a few USSS guys, volunteering for Kerry. There's something intimidating beyond a normal security guy or body guard with them

4. To answer their question. Yes it a common practise in the executive protection industry.
The hands and other areas are intensively watched. Assassination is a form of homicide and homicide means death by the HAND of another. So you watch the hands.

You never wanna play a game of slap with me. I'll slap your hands raw and you'll never touch mine. I can tell when you're gonna slap before you do it. These simple obervations, I will not reaveal, allows me to stay one step ahead of your nerve impulses.

5. Their hands look ready...
To push their protectee to the ground quickly or throttle someone making a threat.

Tough job. They have to be operating at 110% all the time.

7. They should now expend 100% of available resources to protecting Obama
And don't bother with McCain. I just can't see anyone... not even an idiot trying. McCain is more likely to die a natural death or feel like he did when the election is over.

But then again we don't want it like with Bush where SS were keeping everyone away from Bush. Obama I am sure wants to make contact with people.

So at least eliminate SS protection for McCain cause no one would even think it worth the effort to cause him harm.

8. It's probably a good idea to remember this if you get into
a bad neighborhood. You need to have your hands ready to protect yourself or others. I think we do this kind of instinctively

I once had a job that gave me the opportunity to watch lawyer after lawyer in the court. Many of them stand with their hands joined behind their backs. I think it is an instinctive gesture of submission --- and maybe also a way to prevent oneself from revealing one's feelings.

I suppose the Secret Service is taught to have their hands free to protect the person they are serving. But it may be instinctual also. I hope that the Secret Service succeeds in protecting all the candidates and the leaders of our country. I never want to go through the turmoil of the loss of a leader again. I have seen these kinds of attacks too often during my life.
