Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 03:34 PM by spanone
in a few minutes msnbc will be reporting on the verdict in the tony rezko trial. he's was involved in fundraising for obama back in the 80's

they said if he's convicted he could be an 'embarassment' to obama

Antoin "Tony" Rezko (born 1955 in Aleppo, Syria) is an American restaurateur and real estate developer in Chicago, Illinois. Beginning in the 1980s, Rezko became involved in fundraising for local Illinois Republican and Democratic politicians, focusing primarily on Chicago-area Democrats and was one of Barack Obama's first financial contributors. After becoming a major contributor to Rod Blagojevich's successful gubernatorial election, Rezko assisted Blagojevich in setting up the state's first Democratic administration in twenty years and was able to have business associates appointed onto several state boards. Rezko and several others were indicted on federal charges in October 2006, for alledgedly using their connections to the state boards to demand kickbacks from businesses that wanted to do business with the state. While the others have plead guilty, Rezko pled not guilty and is currently on trial.

1. Not a coincidence.
It's also not a coincidence that the GOP-controlled media had nothing whatsoever to say about any Obama-Rezko connection until now.

Better to get it out now and get it over with.

4. Yes, they did. It's been brought up many times since HRC tried to smear Obama in a debate
with it.

Rich coming from those who protected BCCI thugs like Jackson Stephens, Dubai and Saudi royals, Marc Rich, and many others especially GHWBush and Bin Ladens who were all involved.

All we got from THAT unsavory association was an inaccurate recording of history regarding the extent of the roles in those illegal operations by both Reagan and Bush and their cronies, Bush2, 9-11, and this Iraq war.

Bill has been collecting tens of millions from some of those he protected for Poppy Bush - Stephens, Rich, Dubai and Saudi royals have all been very generous to Bill.

9. Wright. Which was discussed more Rezko or Stephens? Stephens BROUGHT the BCCI
bank into this country - the largest terrorist funding bank in the world - whose agenda led directly to 9-11 and US policy of CIA drugrunning, armsdealing and nuclear proliferation networks in oil-regions around the world.

Did Rezko, a wannabe bigshot deserve more scrutiny tthan Jackson Stephens ever got for his key role in BCCI? Gee - who was the bigger threat to this nation's security and the lives of its citizenry?

Did Doug Coe get the scrutiny that Wright received? Coe influences the RW agenda for decades now and HRC fellowshipped with him since she got to DC.

Which spiritual leader effected this nation's government more and thus DESERVED the greatest scrutiny at it applies to the political agenda of our lawmakers?

12. I do not disagree with you.
But, you have to address the GOP-controlled media beast that spent countless hours on Wright, until no one wanted to hear any more about him.

While ignoring Rezko, so now we're either going to get Rezko 24/7 during the summer, or Rezko 24/7 in the fall.

If during the summer, there will be time to counter any arguments 527 myths.

If during the fall, however, will there be enough time to turn anything around for the undecideds?

13. Rather's lawsuit, McClellan's book, and the rising numbers of KO have made 2008 a whole

different ballgame than what Gore had in 2000 and in post 9-11 pedestal polishing for Bush that Kerry was stuck with.

There is a greater chance to gain traction on the offense and defense. Plus, Gore and Kerry had Clinton loyalists running the DNC and those loyalists were pisspoor advocates for any other Dem candidate.

Democrats have Dean running the DNC for ALL Democrats - candidates and Dem voters. McAuliffe was running the DNC for Clintons' needs - especially to keep 2008 open for Hillary.

14. I've seen many great arguments made on this forum...
...and yours is another one.

However, I don't think logic or facts will convince the bumper sticker educated, American Idle viewer-voters.

Come fall, I hope we won't be arguing the same old crap, but I fear we will be.

I agree that we need to be on the offense, but we don't control the media, so we need to have a strategy ready to combat what we know will be coming from the GOP lie machine.

16. I'm just a fact hound with a strong recall for details re most serious issues of last 40yrs.
Some here are not fans of the contingent of DUers who will not let the historic record take a back seat to personality politics.

I thank you for your kind post.

We know they're going to do this.

We know they are doing this.

So, how do we counter?

10. leveymg is one of DU's brightest lights. Those who ignore his posts fear the truth of this nation's
actual historic record as it exists. Some of their chosen heroes pop up too often in support and protection of BushInc for them to find comfort in leveymg's reasearch posts.
