In the U.S. Senate race, two-term Republican Jeff Sessions wins GOP nod to make it three; Vivian Figures takes Democratic nomination.

Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright has easily won the Democratic Party nomination for the 2nd Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring Republican U.S. Rep. Terry Everett of Rehobeth. On the Republican ballot, state Rep. Jay Love had an early lead in a six-candidate race.

In the state's 5th District, State Sen. Parker Griffith of Huntsville has won the Democratic Party nomination to replace retiring Democrat Bud Cramer. On the Republican side, Huntsville insurance executive Wayne Parker was leading the vote in a six-candidate field.
