"It's a 50/50 proposition, and we hope that it won't happen. Attacking Iran would be counterproductive," Moussa told Reuters at the World Economic Forum.

President Bush, in his State of the Union address on Tuesday, spoke of an "escalating danger" from Shi'ite extremists, many taking direction from Iran. Bush called them just as dangerous to the United States as al Qaeda.

If there were to be a war, other genies will get out of the bottle. You cannot imagine the impact on the Gulf countries, on the Mediterranean," Moussa said

One panelist said a serious danger would be any crash in the crude oil price, engineered by Saudi Arabia, to squeeze Iran's finances as a way to bring the country to its knees

I agree its full of twists and turns

1. Now Arabs standing up for Persians? Are there any groups Bush can't unite?
You know, if he threatened the Catholics in Ulster and the Hindus in Kashmir, we might finally see whirled peas and and the whole planet united...against us.

2. Iran is the holy nation of Islam and I think the BFEE knows that.
Just like Operation Crusade, if anyone remembers that. :eyes: Nothings changed.

3. Huh? "Holy Nation of Islam?"
Iran has some Shiite holy sites, but the most venerated are in Iraq, not in Iran. All Muslims agree that Mecca and Medina, along with Jerusalem are holy soil, no trans-sect agreement on anywhere outside of there.

Iran was a Zoroastorian and Christian state until the Arab/Islamic conquest, and Palestine and Syria, Egypt, and North Africa were also Christian!

4. So what happens when the US bombs Mecca back into the stone age?
We can call it Operation Crusade Not Meant To Be Thought Of In A Biblical Way or OCNMTBOINABW!

5. The Iranian minister's visit to Saudi, must have provided a huge..
wake up call to the Saudis. I'm sure they stoked a lot of Armageddon scenarios to them if the U.S. decided to attack Iran. The Arabs are probably aware of the huge economic implications and the major sectarian divisions that would result because of this. I'm sure too, the Iranians played on the Saudi's recent unease with the U.S.government over their differing ideas on Iraq's future and the insurgency problem there.
Iran's willingness to compromise and talk with their neighbors openly and cooperate is going a long way to win over trust when they need it.
The fact that Iran and Saudi Arabia are now collaborating on ideas together to help Lebanon during their crisis is telling,
Wow, Sunni's and Shi'as getting along. RED FLAG!!! Can't have this.
