Why Joe Lieberman has Gone All Traitor
It's really very simple. Joe was able to squeak by in 2006 as an Indie and keep his Senate seat. Because the Democrats needed the numbers, he was able to hold them hostage to get a committee chair by caucusing with the Dems.

But he's also smart enough to know the political winds are changing and his days are numbered. He knows damned well and good, his chairmanship will end with the new election and new congress. He also knows the Dmeocrats won't be so keen to even give him any committee seats, so there's no doubt about it, in 2009 he has to caucus with the Republicans.

Enter the 2008 race. It's naturral he'd back an old friend and Republican because he sees the writing on the wall. He cannot win in 2012, so his poltical career in the Senate is coming to an end. He needs something else, and going for the GOP is his best shot.

So he decided to take a gamble and back McCain because that will result in a cabinet position should McCain win. And if McCain loses, he'll still get committee seats by caucusing with the Republicans.

It's all politics, and Joe Lieberman is a consumate poltician. But give thanks, he'll be shuffled off the scene in 2012 no matter what.

2. Yes, I did
and it fits in perfectly with what I said above.

Joe knows he's done as far as the Dems are concerned coem 2009 no matter what. They can no longer abide a traitor in their midst and they won't need the numbers so bad they can acquiesce to his whims in order to have one more vote in the caucus.

So Jioe has to go all in with the Republicans, and he has done so.

IF the rules were the same now as they were in 2001, Joe would have already jumped ship.

3. In 2009 we must have an overwhelming Democratic Congress
so that ole Joe Lieberwhore's power is neutralized....and if others decide to follow the misguided path of Joe then they should be neutralized of any power also.

4. IT's a given, the Dems will pick up seats in the Senate
Joe knows his days of having a chairmanship of a committee are numbered and even getting any committee seats from the Dems would be unlikely.

So Joe can only keep his political wherewithal by hitching his boat to the GOP boat.

Too bad for him it's sinking.

5. I agree. He knows he's done. And I think he thinks he's just
going to go out with a bang, and do the things he's been wanting to do for years - that is, come out of the closet as it were as the Republican he's been for a long time.

And yes, I think he's just hedging his bets now. He knows perfectly well he's out of his positions after this election, and that he'd never, ever be reelected in CT. He has to make of it what he can.

Just watched this movie and am feeling very blue. Gore must really regret choosing Joe for VP.
