Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers on Ebay
which is great policy, IMHO.

A ditzy seller left me negative feedback once -- all because of a misunderstanding.

It was the only negative I had.

Unfortunately, under the old system, "misunderstanding" feedback could not be retracted.

Good on Ebay.

1. Yes, I know it gets abused, but how do the "little sellers" get
any protection against those cretins that never pay for their bids, or whatever....? I've always been reasonably lucky as buyer and seller, but I certainly have heard some horror stories...

2. That's a good idea
I've always been a bit worried that a seller might retaliate for negative feedback.

7. And they do.
If you leave negative feedback- even for someone who refused to communicate with you and never shipped the item- they will post some shit about you and its there forever.

3. Buyers who don't pay should get negative feedback.
I liked the old system where the feedback could go both ways.

I have gotten a lot of good feedback as a buyer, so I want to keep my status as a good buyer.

4. As a seller....
I think it is totally unfair, because not all buyers are honest, and some will take advantage of this new policy.

10. Yes, buyers can pull all kinds of stuff....well, that's it for me. With
the fee structure and all, Ebay can stick it. Of course, my hubbie will support his buying habit...until he gets burned.

5. I have 2 negatives in less than 100 transactions
and both were from when I bought something. One $35 item I never received, despite much correspondence, and I never got my money back. Even though the seller was shortly thereafter kicked off EBAY, I still have the negative feedback from several years ago.

I also never received the other item, which was less than $10, but I did get a refund. Both sellers left me negative feedback for legitimate complaints against them which led to their being kicked off EBAY. I don't think my 2 negatives have kept anyone from selling to me, but they sure aren't fair either.

6. Sheesh, I don't know.
I probably buy more than I sell, but selling is by far the trickier and more difficult proposition. Buyers get remorseful, wish they hadn't bought the trinket, tell you (inaccurately) that your product was misrepresented, and negative you when you refuse to refund... and now what recourse do you have?

I think reciprocal feedback was the only way to keep everyone on their best behavior. I'm going to quit selling until I can see how this pans out. I'm very attached to my perfect rating.

9. My first seller left a mean spirited feedback for me and when I called her/him on it
he/she called me a liar. I have the proof in e-mails to and from her/him that I was not lying, she/he was.

Ticked me off good. She/He also accused me of leaving negative feedback on her/him and I had only left a five star rating on everything. (I'm really regret being nice now!)

But very stupid of her/him. I spend loads of money on books and I will never buy anything from her/him again.

Really foolish policy on the part of the seller. It never pays to alienate a customer.

11. Corporate greed has ruined Ebay. Check out this alternative...
http://www.webidz.com/

" How much does it cost to sell on your site?

Basic listing is free on the WeBidz site. We do not have any fees for stores, no final sale fees and no monthly subscription fees. Some of our enhanced features for listings do have fees though... To view all site fees, please visit our Site Fees page.

In order to sell on the WeBidz site, users must first become verified. There is a one time fee of $5.00, and verification will remain as long as the contact info remains the same. When listing an item, you will be prompted to verify your account before proceeding. Once verification is completed, you will not receive this prompt again."
