11. How about the 1915 recording: "I Didn't Raise My Boy To Be A Soldier"?
or Wingy Manone's 1940's recording of "Stop That War, Them Cats Are Killing
Themselves" or Ed McCurdy's "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream" or Buffy
St Marie's "The Universal Soldier" or Pete Seegers "Where Have All the Flowers gone" for a start.

13. How about Joni Mitchell's "Slouching Towards Bethlehm,"
Edited on Mon May-26-08 06:05 PM by Old Crusoe
from NIGHT RIDE HOME, based on the dark, iconic poem of Yeats?

Here are two versus, just to set the table:

- - -
Turning and turning
Within the widening gyre
The falcon can not hear the falconer
Things fall apart
The center cannot hold
And a blood dimmed tide
Is loosed upon the world

. . . .

Shaped like a lion
It has the head of a man
With a gaze as blank and pitiless as the sun
And it's moving its slow thighs
Across the desert sands
Through dark, indignant reeling falcons
- - -

Joni wrote it. I take the desert sands to mean other things in Yeats but in her adaptation it can be grafted onto a Middle Eastern war as well.

So far as I know there is no cover version by Pat Boone.

17. Ever hear any Dory Previn?
She did a couple of great anti-war pieces

Do consider this Dory Previn song for a bush visit, it is like he could sing it

Comes The Bomb

Comes the bomb, you will be

Well-done chicken fricassee

Every soul down the hole

But not me, not me, not me!

You'll have anemia, touch o' leukemia

It'll be deplorable

You'll be mutants from pollutants

But I'll still be adorable!

You'll have anemia and leukemia

While I'll be makin' a buck

You'll be gross from an overdose

Of radioactive yuk

Oh yes, and you'll go, you'll go, so will she

Some disgusting _______

You'll be dust, just debris

But not me, not me, not me!

You'll have anemia, touch o' leukemia

I'll be all in clover

You'll be jelly, you'll be smelly

Say hello but don't come over!

You'll have anemia and leukemia

How'll you come to grips?

With what you're fated - contaminated

Please don't kiss me on the lips!

You'll be a facsimile

Of what a human used to be

You're all headin' for Armageddon

But not me!

It's your problem, hey hey hey

So toujours gai and bombs away!

Come the nukes you'll be those gooks

Not me not me not me not me not me not me not me...!

This one always makes me cry:

The Veterans Big Parade

Marched the businessmen's brigade
While behind the high school band
The ladies fife and drum corps played
In the veterans big parade
The flag flew high and free

Down they marched to Fourth and Main
Our soldiers died but not in vain
God was with us
Thats for sure
He proved it cause
It didn't rain
Balloons batons you wanted to cry
The best day in July

At the veterans cemetery
Then the services were said
There the Mayors first assistant
Wiped his glasses
Put them on
And red

Were gathered here
Dear friends today
To show our brave boys
Where they lay
We are with them all the way
And I think it's safe to say
They are not
Alone
They are not
Alone

All the widows proudly smiled
(Except for one with an infant child)
Picnic time was then announced
And all the little kids went wild
Picnic blankets then were spread
And the beer flowed fast and free
There were clams and corn on the cob
To feed the celebrating mob
(Once in a while
I dont know why
The infant child
Began to sob)
Other than that is was New Year's Eve
Till it was time to leave

Then a fine Hawaiian band
Played and sang
Aloha oh
And their voices drifted low
Between the crosses
Painted white
Row on row on row

Aloha oh
And so goodbye
Till next year boys
Next July
We are with you
All the way
And I think
It's safe to say
You are not
Alone
You are not
Alone
You are not
Alone

The Bush administration's treatment of veterans, and the homeless, has been abominable.

22. In honor of Bush - The Draft Dodger Rag
http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics/draft-dodger-rag.html

Sarge, I'm only eighteen, I got a ruptured spleen
And I always carry a purse
I got eyes like a bat, my feet are flat, and my asthma's
getting worse
O think of my career, my sweetheart dear, and my poor old
invalid aunt
Besides, I ain't no fool, I'm a goin' to school, and I'm
working in a defense plant

I've got a dislocated disc and a racked up back
I'm allergic to flowers and bugs
And when the bombshell hits, I get epileptic fits
And I'm addicted to a thousand drugs
I got the weakness woes, and I can't touch my toes
I can hardly reach my knees
And if the enemy came close to me
I'd probably start to sneeze

I hate Chou En Lai, and I hope he dies,
but one thing you gotta see
That someone's gotta go over there
and that someone isn't me
So I wish you well, Sarge, give 'em Hell
Yeah, Kill me a thousand or so
And if you ever get a war without blood and gore
Well I'll be the first to go

23. You could add some of these.
I made these with iTunes and uploaded them a few years back to the iTunes iMix site.

And don't forget any of these anti-* bands and artists.

Don't forget the song, "I'm with Stupid" about the Bush/Blair love affair.

Trent Reznor is certainly anti-*

Play the music loudly when the dipshit gets there!

24. You might surprise a few people if you threw in a recording by
Dolly Parton of a Woody Guthrie song, "Train Wreck at Los Gatos."

Any version is a good listen, actually, but of all people, Ms. Parton comes roaring to the forefront with her recording, and it stands IMO as one of the most blazingly and startlingly persuasive recordings by a vocalist ever.

The issue is immigration, and justice. If anybody else on the boards today have never heard Parton crank this one out, I recommended it very strongly as something to do before you die.
