Bush calls for 'moment of remembrance'
May 24, 2008 11:19 EDT

WHITE HOUSE (AP) -- President Bush is asking Americans to pay tribute to veterans by pausing on Memorial Day for "a moment of remembrance."

In his weekly radio address, Bush offers several suggestions for how to honor the sacrifices of those who fought for the country. Among the suggestions are placing a flag at a veteran's grave, going to a battlefield or saying a prayer. The president says no words are adequate to console those who have lost a loved ones.

Bush says the moment of remembrance will be marked Monday at 3 p.m. local time. He says at that time Major League Baseball games will pause, the National Memorial Day parade will halt and buglers in military cemeteries will play taps.

Going to a BATTLEFIELD? This is really absurd, coming from a man who took great pains to avoid going to war and who has killed thousands with an unnecessary, illegal war - How about PROTESTING a war instead?!

3. That was irony
or as close as I can get, anyway.

Think about it.

I will spend the afternoon drinking with a bunch of fellow vets and fantasizing about lining a certain bunch of War Criminals up against a wall in the early hours, just before dawn.

4. His request was - perhaps unintentionally - ironic
Did he expect us to go to Fallujah or Normandy?
