Sometimes it feels so hopeless... seems the world is consumed by GREED
What possible solutions can we hope for in a world that will --

  • Sacrifice thousands of young lives in unnecessary war just so the war machine can make trillion$
  • Ship all US manufacturing jobs to piss poor countries where workers make $2 a day, thereby destroying the American middle class
  • Allow the world to be polluted and ultimately destroyed by global warming just to make tons of money
  • Allow big pharamaceuticals to push drugs regardless of how many lives are killed
  • Abandon thousands of its own citizens to drown in the aftermath of a hurricane

-- and the list goes on and on and on

I guess I am asking for ideas here. Sometimes it sure feels like we are in our last days.
I sure hope not. When I see all the self-consumed, selfish people in this world,
the only hope I have is to try and follow the principles of the "Serenity Prayer."

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

(sorry for the depressing message, I was just feeling
a bit depressed over the lack of caring in today's world)

3. Your Five bullet points are the highest level of issues. Dive a little deeper -
12000 foot homes with 6 bathrooms, multimillion price tags, etc
80K-plus pricetag, gas guzzling tanks of automobiles
CEOs of failing companies making 400X what the lower levels are making
Mediocre atheletes pissing away more money than they can manage
so many people finding temporary solace in spending on things they don't need and ignoring the things that mean the most

I can go on and on...it isn't just the misadministration - it's what many people have become.

7. Mean while the 28% are all saying hard work education will make everyone one of the 10%
all they need to do is get off the sofa. Compassion is getting to be a rare item anymore.

4. Greed and money have been around since time. Humans are weak and flawed
There is always going to be greed, wars and bad things. It's what you make of it and how you handle your own life. How you look inside and outside to see life. It could be the sprouting of the first spring flowers that let you know life is renewing and going on. It could be the sun on your face. You look to the simple and to yourself and how you can make little differences.
You look for the large and overwhelming when you could make a differnce with something that can count like, helping someone, reading to the sick, rescuing a cat or dog, ect. There is where the you make the difference and where the circle begins and grows. Not the huge and impossible.
