Racism is a serious problem in America.
Racism is a serious problem in America. We've identified 888 organized hate groups — a staggering 48% increase since 2000.

--Southern Poverty Law Center

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been fighting racism in our country whether we acknowledge it or not. Every year they release an intelligence report detailing the activities of hate groups in America:

The growth of these groups is being helped by conspiracy theories and other racist propaganda about immigrants that is being spread by mainstream politicians and pundits. While theories about a secret plan to merge Mexico, Canada and United States into a single country began in radical groups, for instance, many key figures have endorsed them. Indeed, 18 states' houses of representatives have now passed resolutions opposing the "North American Union" — an entity that does not exist and has never been planned, but nonetheless inhabits nativists' nightmares.

In addition to the anti-immigrant groups, the SPLC provides details about Neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, the Ku Klux Klan and Black Separatists, along with anti-gay groups and racist music groups.

While the GOP-controlled media has us pre-occupied with American Idol and other worthless diversions, we as a nation have collectively allowed hate to slip below the radar.

Please take a moment to review the SPLC's "Year In Hate" report.

1. It is and this is so terribly sad. So many wonderful americans
are being discriminated against because of their skin color. It is absolutely unacceptable. With the economy tanking, they have been excluded for so long that it is even more difficult for them to stretch their resources.

2. Since McVeigh...
...I think they went underground.

It seems the GOP-controlled media can't find one hate group in America to write about.

I guess racism is over.

:sarcasm:

3. WTF is it with the T-shirts those two young ladies are wearing? Some kind of joke?
 :wtf:

If so, it's a very poor one.

4. They are Lynx and Lamb Gaede.
They have a band called "Prussian Blue" and they're budding neo-Nazis.

Read all about them http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=content_4207&pageNum=2">here or http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=1231684">here.

6. Good Lord - I just finished the story on your second link, and I think I'm going to be sick.
Peddling hate to these two young ladies from birth and now they've been blinded with the same hate and are peddling it themselves. Makes me want to puke.

:puke: :puke: :puke:

Thanks for the links, even though they tell a sorry tale.

8. We can't hide ourselves from these sick stories...
...any more than we can hide from the consequences of their actions.

I guess I should have warned you; sorry.

9. Oh, don't apologize: you are absolutely correct, this needs exposure. But a part of me is really
angry at the kind of parent who would deliberately steep their children in such hate. And sad for the kids who grow up hating when it didn't have to be that way.

10. The strangest thing about all this...
...is it exists in a parallel universe.

I know these kinds of people exist, but it seemed after McVeigh they dropped off the radar.

I started this thread because SPLC just released their yearly report and I don't remember the GOP-controlled media giving it much coverage.

22. Sucks...but I sincerely doubt there's anything behind it.
A few anti-social people? Yes. A serious bunch of people? No.

23. Who knows...
...but they did something to catch SPLC's attention.

Also, with the internets connecting people these days, there's no telling what's going on.

11. I blame BushCo and the Repubs in general for the increase
They condone, they incite, and they ARE hate. They've done little else in eight years but intentionally fan flames of discrimination of all types, emboldening these groups and validating them.

Look around, the right is doing this EVERYWHERE in the world.

...is it just me or does it seem like after McVeigh the GOP-controlled media has stopped covering hate groups in America.

15. I can't really say if that's when it started
...as I resided overseas when the OK bombing happened and I didn't move back till after Bush** began squatting in the WH.

But since moving back it has disturbed me a great deal that the media doesn't focus its attention on the rise of hate groups under Bush**. There's an ugly story there, begging to be told, but no one in the corporate news seems to have the balls to do it.

I wish I could say that surprised me.

19. It seems the GOP would rather people not remember...
...their connection to hate groups. I guess they want people to be afraid of brown terrorists and not the homegrown white ones.

21. We have confirmation of that from their supporters
When they say Bush** has prevented another terrorist attack since 9-11 and you point out the anthrax attacks, they're quick to say that's different. I can only guess the reason they think so is because the anthrax targeted mostly liberals (with some civilians of unknown political bias thrown in, also easy to forget for the right).

Once again, hate unites them against the idea of justice for all.

20. Indeed, that's how they accomplish it
Whip up people's fear and use it as a rationale for dismantling Constitutional rights and protections.

They win, America loses.

This is why I will never forgive Repubs and those who vote for them. They're beneath contempt. The GOP is a threat to this country and its sycophants are too blinded by hate to see the danger. Traitors all.

25. Money to support hate groups would be profitable to a few.
The media picked a woman and a black man for Dems to run, and now hate groups are curiously on the rise with multi-trillion dollar budgets at stake, and many RWers flush with cash.

Imagine.
