Poll question: If your favorite candidate doesn't get the nomination, will you do your duty, or sit it out?

If your favorite candidate doesn't get the nomination, will you vote for the democratic candidate, or sit out the 2008 general election?

1. I will vote for the candidate
unless my feelings get hurt by people on DU calling that person names and associating me with GWB.

Love your bubbles picture.

8. I'm sorry if this has been done - I hadn't seen it.
But I see all these polls in the papers saying "X% of Obama voters won't vote for Hillary in the general" or "X% of Hillary voters won't vote for Obama in the general" Just wondering if that held up here at all.

Seems that it doesn't.

11. I rarely do.
I hate the rancor between the 2 camps, and honestly don't understand it. They look identical to me - both center-right establishment dems like we always get, both a little bit new to the senate, and both are firsts (1st black, 1st woman).
That's why I did NOT use names in the poll. I don't care who people support, just whether or not they'll vote for the nominee regardless.

9. "My guy" has never been the candidate, and I've voted in every election.
So this is just another election case of 'meh'.

18. In my heart, I'm a socialist.
I have no more loyalty to the whored-out husk that is the democratic party than I do to my long-distance carrier.

In local races, I didn't hesitate to vote green or progressive when I lived in San Francisco and those choices were available.

But in this national election, there will be TWO, and only two viable candidates. You can vote for the democrat and hopefully prevent 4 more nightmarish years of Bush policies, or you can help McCain by supporting one of the other candidates. Unless you are hoping for the demise of the Union, and a revolution that will eventually make it better, it would be unconscionable to not help the democratic candidate.

I have qualms with both of them, but neither of them is bad enough that we should abandon them come November. Bill Clinton was a corporate tool DINO too, but the Clinton years were HEAVEN compared to the last 7 years. Haven't you had enough of this hell?

19. All of that is true.
I've voted for many Democrats I didn't like. I've never NOT voted for a Democrat for president, and I'm 48.

I take Obama's positions and rhetoric personally.

I don't want any more hell. In addition to the national hell everyone else has lived through, my profession has been hell since NCLB.

Obama, though, vocally supports republican agendas for public education like merit pay, charter schools, and other forms of privatization.

I take that personally. Why would I vote for someone who promises to ensure that my professional life will continue to be hell?

There are very few issues that Obama and I see eye-to-eye on. To be honest, none that I can remember. He's wrong on every single issue that drives my vote. Health care. War. NAFTA. Just to name a few more.

What will I do in November? I don't know. I'll look at my options and make a choice after the convention.

I can guarantee, though, that I won't be celebrating anything, regardless of the outcome.

13. No, Since Richardson isn't running, I'm voting for McCain
What are you, nuts?

I would vote for the Democratic candidate even if it was a bad choice, and I didn't see many bad choices this time.
I want to defeat the republicans, crush their party, demoralize them for years.

Sorry-caffine & sugar this morning.
