Schwarzenegger supports CA Gay Marriage Ruling!
Wow!

“I respect the Court’s decision and as Governor, I will uphold its ruling. Also, as I have said in the past, I will not support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn this state Supreme Court ruling.”

1. Good for him!
He's done some great things -- or at least has some good philosophies -- for a Republican.

3. Does this mean an amendment to ban hasn't a chance in hell
...while he's gubernator?

4. I love it that he's poking the party heavies in the eye on this one.
It's times like this that his "in your face" personality is fun to see.

5. If he supports the ruling
does that mean he's going to instruct his solicitor general (or the California equivalent) NOT to appeal to the USSC?

6. his attorney general is Jerry Brown
a former governor himself and a staunch Democrat. California's Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and all major offices except Insurance Commissioner are held by Democrats.

As for preventing an amendment, it depends how it's proposed. If it's passed by a voter proposition there's not much he can do legally other than campaigning against it.

7. Schwarzenegger knows which way the wind is blowing
He's a politician who wants to stay in office and he knows that the U.S. is now trending to the left.

8. I don't know why people
are surprised by this. He's always been pro gay rights. He just didn't accept the legality of what Newsome did in SF.

He's still a complete fucktard.

9. I keep telling folks that Arnie ain't that bad.
He is a RINO.

I don't know that much about California, but from what I have seen, there don't seem to be very many actual Republicans out there.
