He has aged very, very well - if I may say so myself! :P

26. This is the first time I've seen the football picture
The other one's a knock-out, isn't it? As to age, he does it like fine wine. Wine with a real kick.

37. That football picture is amazing! He's glowing . . .
hubba, hubba.

I'll bet he HAD TO learn early in life that he was going to have to deal with how attractive he is.

His family is really wealthy. He grew up in the Hamptons, and he's so down-to-Earth and real.

46. It IS possible.
I have a couple of nephews who are sons to my sister's husband who is insured for several millions to protect his control of a business he started in his garage about 30 years ago (electronics design and engineering). One nephew is an absolutely passionate teacher in alternative secondary education (street kids and other castoffs) who thinks Dennis Kucinich is too Conservative. The other has a graduate degree in the Classics and is Green-rehabbing, almost entirely by himself with his own skills, his first home from wages he makes in a bar in Co. Spgs.

It's all about the parenting.

10. I'm Still A Deniac At Heart
and we all had a lot of heart. We worked hard and were taken down by a falsified scream but we have learned from it and have moved on, Dean included. Dean has done a great job at really trying to unite the party instead of tearing it apart and going the third party way (like LIEberman) which would be devastating at this time. I am proud to have supported Dean and am proud of the route he has taken.

things I have ever witnessed in politics.

I still don't know why it was "wrong."

40. I COMPLETELY agree with you.
Even with it artificially exaggerated (before I knew it was) I was thinking, now there's a guy with honest to god spontaneous Spirit. Not so worried about being whatever "cool" is that he won't show his emotions. I TREASURE that kind of honesty. I was thinking, "What the hell is the matter with everyone???" And then I happened to remember high school, all of the pressure to conform to _______ and the utter bitchiness. Many people have never grown beyond that.

The last political candidate I really cared about, until the good Doctor came along.

I miss him still.

On edit: I didn't know he was so ripped. It was his mind I was responding to back in those days. ;)

I just joined (I hope it takes this time). This is going to seriously fuel my obsession. I write romance novels, and I predict that all my heroes in the near future will either be named Howard or Dean and look remarkably like the good doctor.

7. Cute note from Wonkette today...and a pic of him and brother Charley.
I thought this was typical Dean style...kind of unique.

"Saw Howard Dean exiting the Capital Hilton on Saturday (2/24), where the Democratic Governors Association was meeting. He strode past a limo I thought was his and instead got into a regular old DC cab with a bunch of aides. Hell, even I paid to valet park there."

http://wonkette.com/politics/wonkd/wonkd-irrelevancy-interrupted-241186.php

Here he is with brother Charley when they were young.

12. He should have been our nominee.
I was wrong on that one. I should have backed him from the get-go. I think he would have been a far superior candidate. I think Karl Rove worked some serious mental Ju-Jitsu on the minds of the Democratic Party, convincing people that he was "looking forward to" running against Dean and "scared" of Kerry (because, you know, Kerry's Vietnam record combined with his vote for the war in Iraq made him so formidable)...

Anyway, cool pix.

and Dean's message is still there. Gore would be the perfect solution this time if he would run. Course if Dean ran against Gore, I would be in a crisis.

15. Yeah- I was prepared to support whoever the nominee was, and it was tough
because I agreed with Dean on Iraq-- but I bought into all the stuff about Kerry being harder to beat.

I was totally wrong. I really think Dean would have the one who was harder to beat.

And the lesson I came away with from all that is, now I'm much more inclined to look skeptically at the "approved" conventional wisdom candidates.

16. If Enough Take Heed, Then Dean And Us Deniacs Would Think
the sacrifice triumphant. Dean's movement was more about truth than about him. That is all any of us Deniacs were about too. Most of us were apolitical until Bush stole the election and from personal experience I can tell you that my group included people from all different parties, races, religions and ages. I can also tell you that most of them are voting Democratic right now, even if they do still hold doubts about the party.

28. Amen to that
Dean's movement was more about truth than about him.

That was one reason for his supposed "gaffs." It wasn't about message control. It was about truth. I just about plotzed when I first saw a tape of one of his speeches. He was saying things no one else had. Bless Dennis Kucinich, who's right-on about everything political. But only Howard Dean pointed to an American flag and said, "George Bush doesn't own that flag. Rush Limbaugh doesn't own that flag."

I saw Dean speak in Oaktown (got to shake his hand, too, when he came out ahead of time to give an unscheduled talk -- some in Spanish -- to the Latinos para Dean outside). Dean owned Oaktown that night. We'd take him in in a heartbeat. He's our kind of guy.

44. What can any of us say?
The fact that he is STILL WORKING HARD, EVERY DAY,
for our country, keeps me going, keeps my spirit
from completely flagging.

...keeps me speaking out to people, who's eyes BUG-OUT when
I praise UNIONS and the COMMON MAN...when I advocate for
the COMMONWEALTH over PROFIT MARGINS....

I believe HE, born with much, but raised with the right
ethos, who learned SO much from the loss of a BELOVED brother
at a CRUCIAL time in his live, works for the right reasons.

In some WEIRD, small way, he helps to give me faith in humanity.

We SO deserved to have a GOOD man for our President. We were SCREWN.
