A. Lincoln: "All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." Happy Mother's Day, DU.
A little history, then a good wish to all:

"Lincoln’s natural mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, died when he was nine years old and his father remarried the following year. His stepmother, Sarah Bush (Johnston) Lincoln, was loved and respected by Lincoln throughout her life, as evidenced in the many biographical studies of Lincoln. Benjamin P. Thomas says in Abraham Lincoln, p. 12 (1952): “The boy Abraham adored her. Recollection of his own mother dimmed. And in later years he called this woman, who filled her place so well, ‘my angel mother.’” http://www.bartleby.com/73/1225.html

My personal feeling is he had two wonderful Moms that he loved, and that was borne out throughout his life.

So I take a break from GD: Primaries to acknowledge all Moms, everywhere. You are the best. (Except for mine, of course, who truly WAS the best.)

God knows she tried.

2. Kicked. Any Moms, or children of mothers out there?
Give it up for Mom. Take her for granted? I think not.

I won't go there on my personal story, but please tell yours.

3. I lost mine five years ago.
I still miss her. She wasn't only my mom; she was my friend.

4. Me, too. 2003, at 85, That's why I posted this. Maybe too early.
Mom was the first to win the War Production Board award in Detroit. Eleanor Roosevelt flew out to give it to her personally, in 1943.

Moms are a big deal, for all of us. I trust DU will acknowledge that on Sunday. Maybe this post is just too early.
