How do you keep up with everything going on ?
Without letting many issues fall into the memory hole .

As many know there is not a day that goes by for the past 6 years that does not have some sort of new event whether it is Iraq which is not talked about enough or today the bus going over the bridge .

Do you look at certain issues and focus on just these , basically that's what I do , I avoid tv and try to find what I can online or on the few true liberal radio shows we have .

I try to stay focused on what is going on in the war zones and the whitehouse and the house but have to include poverty and the economy .

I don't have a clue how wall street works or how the economy runs .

1. We're under fascist occupation
So the mainstream media is less than worthless.
Try the BBC World Service.
Going direct to the wire services for news is also good.

2. I don't try to remember everything. I read DU every day, find out what is going on, and try to
focus on the needs of my community, spiritual, political and otherwise. I trust that if I need information, the thousands of experts here at DU will remind me (and believe me, I mean this in the most respectful way. I see DU as a political "atomic chart of the elements"-- SOMEBODY will have the information I need, if I happen to forget something vital.)

DU has been my island of sanity for these last years, living as I do in fundieville. I don't think I could have survived as sanely (although there may be some question there!!) as I have without the wonderful, caring, brilliant people here at DU.

3. It's tough
Some days I feel I need a spare brain to keep track of everything!

Before the days of the Internet, I definitely had a cleaner house :)

4. Unfortunately the old memory hole is getting very full!
I think we all can deal with the emergencies that happen, like the bus crash, the tornadoes, and even anna's death. The things I worry about getting lost are the unending scandals of this admin! Almost daily, there's another issue, and we all say Congress needs to investigate that! Yes, they do, but how many investigations can congress do at one time?

Think aobut all the open, unanswered issues:

9/11
WMD's
Signing Statements
The patriot act
Illegal wire taps
Abbu Graib
Firing of 8 US Attorneys
Foreign based torture prisons
Walter Reed hospital
Touch Screen Voting
Oil industry's influence on the energy policy
Outing of a CIA agent
Katrina response

Ohhh, my brain is tired now. I know wthat's only a partial list of the events of the last 6 years! Can we REALLY expectthis Congress to adress them all?

6.  The list is so damn long .
There are some topics I am afraid to look at for fear of going into over load . I pass by candidtates and Anna and all the other news items .

I stay away from gay issues because I don't have a problem with a persons sexual preference .

I try to keep focused on what affects most people that I have possibly something to contribute to .

My greatest concern now is a job to keep going and the threat of attacking Iran and how this Iraq occupation will end and if it ever will .

I don't have alot of time left on earth unless I live to be 80 and the way life looks at 80 I hope many times I will not make it there .

I have lived in this area for 27 years and now I feel like a stranger in a strange place , I don't feel secure with that feeling .
