Ann Coulter is socially retarded.
What is she? A snarky 12 year old?

I listened to her today, and I must confess this is only the 2nd time I've ever listened to her. The first was a couple years back on a CBC program called The Fifth Estate. She was pathetic then, but today she was pathetic x10.

I mean this woman, when asked by a young college repub how to respond to political apathy on campus, responded that she should start a Joe McCarthy club, because that would really piss off the liberals. What the fuck kind of response is that?

There was one bright moment in the Q&A session. A guy asked: "If you're such a strong advocate of traditional marriage, how come you've broken off 3 engagements and never been married?"

She was pissed.

He was roundly booed.

As for her "faggot" comment about John Edwards, well that's what I mean by a twelve year old. A nasty one. And a completely unimpressive one.

2. why pay her any attention at all?
ignore her, it's the best way to move on.

she makes her living and feeds her ego being outrageous. best way to handle that is by ignoring every outrageous idoicy she says. don't take her seriously, laugh at her. Everytime someone gets pissed off and takes her seriously, she gets exactly what she wants.

3. LOL
If you read my post, you'd know that I've hardly spent a great deal of time on Coulter. Ive only seen her twice on TV, and one of those times was today. Ive never read her column or a book of hers. That can hardly qualify as giving her too much attention- or needing to move on.

Furthermore, how you got that I felt pissed off or outraged or took her seriously from my OP, is beyond me. Quite the stretch there.

Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 06:54 PM by childslibrarian
Just exactly what about John Edwards would make her think that he is gay? My guess is John Edwards scares the daylights out of RW Repubs--a smart-- as-- a-- whip former trial lawyer who is very attractive and has a wonderful wife. What can they do besides spread the rumor he is gay?
Pathetic Karl Rove tactics. Sad and pathetic.

7. She hates him because he's 100 times more handsome than she is.
Therefore, he must be gay in her mind.

Just a guess.

8. "He was roundly booed."
That's conservative integrity in a nutshell.

I, too, have never been able to understand her appeal even to the idiot right wingers. Even acknowledging that they love hearing the random schoolyard bullshit like what you just mentioned, she's just such an awful speaker. I once saw her on a panel at (I think) Pat Robertson's college in Norfolk, VA, (not Falwell's Liberty University) where the topic was separation of church and state. The "separatists" were Dershowitz, Barry Lynn, and some lawyer from the ACLU, and the "Christianists" were Coulter, David Limbaugh, and Jeff Sekulow (name?) from Robertson's legal group.

Limbaugh and Sekulow were of course completely full of shit and easily shot down by the opposing three (despite having nearly the entire Christian school audience on their side), but at least I could actually discern what they were actually saying. I didn't have the faintest clue what the hell Coulter was even talking about. She'd start on this rant in her chicken bobbing quivering voice about... something, but then she'd just go off on a tangent about Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick, then she'd return to the original rant for about two sentences, and then go off on some other snide, idiotic joke like the previous one.

I watched that and realized I could never hope to win against her in a debate, because I'd never be able to understand what I was even supposed to be rebutting!

Really? Three men have asked her to marry them? Really? To me, this is the surprising thing. None of the hateful garbage that comes out of her mouth, on the other hand, is surprising in the least.

12. **ALL** neocons are snarky 12-year-olds.
From Cheney say "Go fuck yourself!" on the Senate floor, to his refusing to meet with or shake hands with Dem Congresspeople when they do meet, to O'Cryly refusing to utter Olbermann's name in public, to any of them ever acknowledging any error and voluntarily willing to make amends.

When Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize, any other administration would have had a State dinner to honor him, or a ceremony at the White House, or a public statement of congratulations and thanks.

These people did nothing.

On second thought, they're not 12-yr-olds, they're 8-yr-olds. And spoiled 8-yr-olds at that.

13. AGREED NONE STUPIDER THAN COULTER
OK, maybee gwb is stupider.
Hoary for Defense Sec. Gates.
This United States is in serious need, no. Desperate need of leadership.
not the insincere, deceitful blame players that now occupy the oval office.
Sec. Gates does not belong in company of the foul scoundrels now in charge.
Mr. Gates, like Senator Jim Webb, appears motivated by his heart, by his conscience, by his soul.
I am of the opinion that both Mr. Gates and Mr. Webb do at times have trouble sleeping at night. However their insomnia would be due to the actions, or in actions of others. Not their own.
Unfortunately I fear that the stewards of this ship, the Rascals at the top, suffer no such sleepless nights.
We do as a nation, lack honest sincere leadership. Be it the president of the United State, the Vice President, the majority of elected officials in both the Senate and the House, and our corporate stewards.
We are in serious trouble.
Not that long ago I could think of no Gandhis, no Martin Luther Kings, no Jack Kennedys, no Reagens, no George Washingtons on the landscape.
I did think that this country was without hope.
However with clear thinking, honest individuals, like Mr. Gates and Mr. Webb I am encouraged that regaining our national soul is within our grasp.
I do pray that somehow one of these decent gentlmen might ascend to the office of President of the United States.
Jim Webb President, Robert Gates Vice President??
Robert Gates President, Jim Webb Vice President??
God Bless America. And God Bless these extraordinary individuals.
Robert Valentino

22. Just discovered that the guy who asked her about
marriage is from The Nation.

Just returned from CPAC, where I caught Ann Coulter call John Edwards a "faggot" (Crooks and Liars has video). The crowd roared their approval, of course. Then Coulter endorsed Mitt Romney. Another gem from Coultergeist: Discussing black Republicans, she declared, "Our blacks are better than their blacks."

I mixed it up with Coulter during Q & A. If you didn't catch that on C-Span, video will be up in the coming days on the Nation website.

I also met concentration camp enthusiast Michelle Malkin at her book signing and asked her to autograph this photo. From the looks of what she wrote on her blog and the hysterical rant she launched into the lens of our video camera, Malkin was non-plussed about the encounter:

Interlude: Two punks from The Nation with a camera stopped by my book signing to ambush me about In Defense of Internment. Have they bothered to read the book? No. I look forward to their butchering of my comments and the predictable unhinged reaction.

Sorry, Michelle. We're going to go to the videotape soon and we'll see who is unhinged.
