Why are Democratic leaders not publicly and regularly rebuking Joe Lieberman for his...
...support of the Republican candidate? The man needs to be told to make a choice. Why is he allowed to have it both ways? Is he THAT valuable to our side? I'm sick of him. And his whiny, scratchy voice is like fingernails on a blackboard, to my ears. x(

1. Simple
The democrats can not afford to isolate themselves from conservative party members. They can not carry the vote without the votes of white conservative males. Both candidates are under the delusion that they can win. One is a woman, another is a black man. Less than ten years ago, i saw a story on the news about a black man who was dragged to death behind a pick up truck because of the color of his skin. Less than two years ago, i read a story about a woman who was gang raped by wealthy males, all of whom escaped justice through the courts, despite the fact that they videotaped their crime.

They can not win.

11. Welcome To DU
The biggest lie of this campaign is how the "white conservative" vote is so important. It isn't. But when you have a bunch of old white men sitting around television studios pontificating, then it "must be true".

I'd gladly take 90% of the black vote, 70% or more of the Hispanic vote...both who will be energized to show up at the polls than trying to coddle to dittoheads who have the blood of the past 7 years on their hands. The Democrats can win without the racists and the bigots...and if that's what's needed to win, this country is in worse shape than its already in.

2. He is officially no longer a member of the Democratic party, so there's nothing they can say.
He only got elected by forming his own party.

5. Don't forget his puritanical proselytizing
He was sickening even before Gore choose him for Veep. Why did Al have to elevate this creep. The Democrats are over a barrel. They don't pander to Lieberman they loose their majority and ability to subpoena. Win a couple more Democratic Senate seats and we can tell Lieberman to take a hike. / That is probably the only reason he does not become a Repuke. He thinks the next Senate will be more Democratic and he does not want to sit with the minority. / Meanwhile, he is practicing for his Zell Miller speech in St Paul. / Is the Senate Majority worth it?

13. I really knew all this but the man sends my cringe factor through the roof.
And when he defended John McCain against Obama's "bearings" remark, my blood pressure went up, too. It was one of those moments that made me think, if this is what it takes to keep the Senate majority, screw it!

Joe Lieberman was Al Gore's only real mistake, in my opinion. But what a mistake! If he hadn't been Gore's running mate, the little jerk would never have been a household name. I understand why Gore picked him, and Democrats really did win Florida, as most of us know. If only someone could figure out how to make Joe just shut up, now.

8. I think they need his "good will" in the Senate, since it's that close there.
Otherwise, Cheney might be a tie-breaker in an important vote.

12. He's Not A Democrat
Yes, he caucuses with them but has become a party of one not only in his party but in the GOOP as well. If he was so valuable to them, they'd find ways to "swing" him over...especially in light that all indicators are the GOOP will lose seats this fall. In the end, Joementum will be the loneliest man in the beltway.

Reid is sticking with Joementum thanks to his vote that gave Reid the Majority Leader role...and now I wonder if Harry the Hat is "glad" of that compromise.

Here's hoping Liebermann gets back benched out into the hallway...and Reid, if he dares to defend this traitor should be removed as leader...hell, I'd love for my Senior Senator to take over that role...Senator Durbin would be a great ally to our other Senator (who will be President) and not put up with the bullshit Reid has.
