How To Spend Your Rebate....
The federal government will sending out rebates in amounts btwn $300-$600. If we spend the money at Walmart, the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, the money will go to the Middle East. If we purchase a computer, the money goes to India. If we buy produce, the money will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. Buy a car, the money goes to Japan. If we spend it on useless crap, the money goes to Taiwan.... this does nothing to help the American economy.

The only way to keep that money in this country is to spend it on prostitutes, weed, bourbon, beer and tattoos, since these are about the only products still produced here in the good old USA!

2. Mine Is Going To Elect Democrats
I can't think of a better way to return this money to help the country. Almost all will be spent on Congressional races...helping elect more Progressive and Liberal voices.

9. One correction.
On the sale of computers...

The profits go to the USA, the cost of goods sold goes to China. If you think India sees more than a dollar per computer sold, you're nuts.

When tech support was in the USA, it was about $4.00/machine built into the price of a computer for support.

The major manufacturers argue over the quality of the cellophane used to wrap the warranty agreement card in the box. Since most of the people on those projects get a bonus for cutting costs, they start with really high end cellophane with nice stickers. They cut the thickness and the quality of the sticker, then it becomes a black/white sticker. Etc.

But, if you want to help the US economy, start gardening. Buy solar/wind power to become more sustainable. Use the money to put a more efficient appliance in the house and donate your working one to somebody that could use it. Use the money to reduce the electricity and water used. Look at the computer you're using. Is it a 250 watt machine, or 30 watts? Yes, the money to buy most of these goods will leave. But it will come back in the long term.

Just some thoughts. :-)

11. Buy some US-made solar power, e.g. Evergreen Solar.
If the government won't invest in this, you can. And, ENDING this year, there is a Federal tax credit of $2000 on any installed solar electric or hot water.
