The guys the Philly cops beat up are the ones who killed the Philly cop
the other day - which generated so much rage hereabouts. I find that interesting.

1. It looked pretty bad for the cops, but I sure as hell don't blame them for being...
so outraged.

2. If it was any group other than cops..
i'm sure such behavior would be far less acceptable. Being cops doesn't give them the authority to participate in unchecked vigilante justice.

In case you have forgotten, here in the US, people are INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty

3. What's your point?
If it was them, arrest them. Let the courts decide the penalty, not the cops.

It was almost like no human was operating it.

I just saw this on a satellite TV news feed (for the first time), the 15-20 cops dragging the citizens out of their cars and having at them. Wow, in a sad way.

Anyway, I couldn't find it on Google news, and I recalled seeing this thread, but not the other one, so your post allowed me to use the needed keyword of Philadelphia to find the news item.

Curious that "cops beat suspended" (without quotes) didn't turn up the story at Google news.

15 Philly Cops Taken Off The Streets After Beating

CBS News Interactive: Crime Beat
PHILADELPHIA (CBS News) ― More than a dozen police officers will be taken off the street as authorities investigate a video showing three suspects being kicked, punched and beaten after they were pulled out of a car during a traffic stop, the mayor's office said.

"At a glance it does appear to be a bit beyond the pale," said Doug Oliver, a spokesman for Mayor Michael Nutter. "Officers are not allowed to operate outside of the law."

Another curious thing is that according to the cache at Google, the first paragraph originally read:

"PHILADELPHIA (AP) ― A half-dozen police officers kicked and beat three men pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the ...

I guess the editing minimization that is commonly done in reporting for the government probably would have gone unchecked had that news helicopter not been overhead.

12. Link?
I read a local newspaper article about the beating today, and it didn't read the way you wrote.

Especially since the article mentioned three people in the group that got beat up, yet as of this afternoon the cops only had two of the shooting suspects in custody and were still looking for the third.

Was the third guy supposedly in the group that got beat up?

Yep, a link would be handy.
