I understand when you lose over a hundred seats in one election you would "get the message". America apparently did not like the way Democrats governed. After such a shellacking would you go out on the progressive limb if you wanted to stay in politics and have a future in government? While I can understand how Democrats could vote for IWR and tax cuts for the wealthy early in Bush*'s term, I can never understand how they can turn their backs on blatant out and out criminal activity..I can only attribute it to severe trauma caused by their huge defeat in '94. How long will it take for them to get over it, if at all? If Democrats win by huge margins this year will that give them back their confidence, or will we have to suffer through some more election cycles before America can begin to heal?

1. it's up to the voters to put people in there that will fight for what's right.
Godz help us if the corporate media wins the day...the sheep will continue to be scared little security moms.

2. 1994 had to do with the right wing control of the airwaves, more than
anything else, IMHO.

America will never heal until she brings back real news, not infotainment, and there is some balance to the am radio hate fest.

America doesn't know who it is anymore. Red or Blue? For this country to be great again there has to be a complete revolt against conservative talk radio and a replacing of the MSM by something like objective investigative reporting.

There are too many people buying into what the media and conservative radio has to sell. Until reality rises up and smacks them in the face they will continue to let others do their thinking for them.

In all fairness, the rising of gas prices and food shortages and loss of homes should turn a lot of people away from conservatism but so many remain ignorant just like the freepers.

People have to understand that the right does not hold out hope for people go get a piece of the "American Dream."

on edit,

Americans are not going to turn far left or far right. There is too much suspicion of either extreme. The greatest percentage of Americans are middle of the roaders. Playing to the extreme will not get us anywhere.

4. You say...
..."the rising of gas prices and food shortages and loss of homes should turn a lot of people away from conservatism".

Would that it were so. Instead, conservative voices including the corporate media and especially including right wing hate radio, will promote the idea that "Looky there! As soon as a Democratic Congress got in, jes' look what happened to the economy!"

Bet on it. In fact, I've already run across it a couple of times.
