awesome video about the pace of change in modern life....
This was sent to me by a colleague. It's worth watching. I love the statement "China has more honors students than America has kids."

1. Mike! I had to stop watching at 4:56 because my head was about
explode all over my machine!

I miss the 19th Century.

2. very interesting.
These are definitely exciting times.

I think it also illustrates that less emphasis should be put on "memorizing facts" in school - and more on critical thinking, problem solving, and "learning how to learn".

3. But that would involve repealing NCLB. Which should be done asap.

4. Why I don't like this...
Each fact in its turn is no doubt true. (It remains to be seen whether the AI problem will ever be solved, regardless of how much raw capacity computers acquire.) But overall the video creates a sense of inevitability and revels in the helplessness and total insignificance of the individual. It disempowers. It also buys into the continuance of nation-based competition.

5. Should be about time for the fight technology choir to chime in
To tell us about how technology is going to get rid of all the jobs and take all our rights away from us.
