"The Polygamy Diaries" - a decade of reporting and investigation
Edited on Sat May-03-08 10:09 PM by Cerridwen
For more than 25 years, award-winning reporter Mike Watkiss, who himself comes from a polygamist background, has covered the intimate, personal stories from inside America’s polygamist underworld. “Polygamy Diaries” is a collection of reports that Watkiss has produced for 3TV during the last decade.

The videos on the site are a little dated but give a good background to what has happened recently. It also gives you a look at some of the women who have escaped and an additional look at the women still there; they look a whole lot different than the carefully selected women recently in the news.

edit: spelling

4. I've done that before also, post something I think very interesting or important
in the evening and have it sink. I kick it and it pops up the next day, but I've kicked myself for doing that.

5. Eh, timing is - maybe not everything - but it is important. I know better.
But some days it just takes me a while to get there - so to speak.

:D

7. I wish. But, no, I did not. It would appear there are many who "resonate"
with the mother/destroyer Goddess Cerridwen.

Very wonderful video and music. Thank you for the link.

If you've ever heard Celtic war drums...that almost hits the sound. I have an arrangement of "Scotland the Brave" (on CD) with war drums that start at the soles of your feet and slowly, persistently swell up through your body until it reaches your "soul." The music you link reminds me a bit of that.

Thank you. Though, twas not I who posted that.

9. I did. I enjoy what little I've heard of Sinead O'Connor.
She's irreverent. Big points in my "book." :D

If war drums don't move you; for good or ill; I swear, I think you have no soul. I'm biased that way. LOL

Which makes me sound militaristic; which is ironic because I'm a pacifist. What's truly ironic is that I'm a pacifist because I know how destructive rage can be; based solely on my own rage and anger. I hope that made some sense. :)

13. Well done! I "enjoyed" that very much.
I put "enjoyed" in quotes because it's haunting and arouses something, but I'm not sure "enjoy" is the right word.

Clannad is the group?

The lyrics are...haunting.

Way up there in the poison glen
The sun's going down on the misty mountain
And I'm watching
And wondering
Feeling something from long ago

Haunted echo that surrounds the glen
The heather creeping through
The burned out ruins
And I'm watching
And wondering
Feeling spirits of long ago

Who in the valley shed the poison tear?
No one knows
An old legend of a mythical hero
And I'm watching
And wondering
Feeling something from long ago

May this vale be my silver lining
Pleasing nature with a heart's desire
And I'm watching
And wondering
Feeling everything from long ago

16. More background
The links below include information from Eldorado authorities' 4 years of wary "acceptance" of the flds in their community. Some also show how jeffs moved his more reliable followers to the Eldorado compound in order to take the heat off Hilldale and Colorado City as the authorities in that area were closing in on the flds police officers and other members and their illegal behavior.

Other historical and background information is included as well; including bits of information of flds groups setting up in other parts of the US and Canada.
