I’m awaiting the time—not far off now—when
the members of the Chickenshit wing of the Democratic Party are standing around saying to each other, “I really don’t want to impeach, but the folks back home will have my ass if I don’t vote for it.”

“I really don’t want to de-fund the Iraq war, but the voters are demanding it.”

“They’ll skin me alive if I don’t vote for the single-payer healthcare bill.”

Yup That’s what I’m waiting for.

Vladimir: Well? Shall we go?
Estragon: Yes, let's go.
(They do not move.)

2. I'm waiting for them to wet their powder
I'm starting to get really sick and tired of Harry Reid's "Leadership". I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he's just not coming close to anything I can hang on to for much longer. This pussyfooting around and giving extreme deference to Lieberman for everything has just about reached the limit.

Enough already!! DO something! STAND UP AND STAND FIRM, DAMMIT!!!!!!!!

8. Bwaa haa haa haa! Love the poem contained within the bate-box.
Sally, having swallowed cheese,
Directs down holes the scented breeze,
Enticing thus with baited breath
Nice mice to an untimely death.

15. I like that, too.
As a long-time Shakespeare fan, it's the image I get when I see 'baited breath.' It converts the prosaic to the poetic.

19. I do the same thing ... and forget that people who don't know me don't 'get it.'

I have a bad habit of using a kind of humor that depends on someone knowing that I know better or really don't think in that way ... and then, when I see someone looking at me like I'm from another planet or with a puzzled look, I think "oops!"

Being facetious just doesn't work self-referentially if folks don't know the difference.

4. I think that time is a bit off in the distance yet....
... I don't see people doing much "demanding". They may be expressing dissatisfaction when a pollster calls them but, I don't think their being very demanding. Just my read.

When I call my representatives, I always get right through

6. You're gonna be waiting for a while there. This bunch has turned
out to be rather disappointing. Apparently they think that they were sent to Washington to make nice and not rock any boats.

Face it, those dems have corporate contributors too.

10. Get comfortable
the Democrats in power are bourgeois to the bone, they have interests which contradict our own. If you keep going through the system of the bourgeoisie, the bourgeoisie will win. Instead of waiting, why not destroy capitalism and get rid of these problems outright?

11. Well, if you're gonna have a revolution,
I guess ya might as well do it while the regular imitary & National Guard are out of the country, preoccupied with other things.

12. That's one part of it
The fact that the Imperial Russian army was sick and tired of a worthless, costly, unpopular and futile war was a HUGE factor in the October Revolution. Remind you of anything? All we need is to organize the working classes and get some momentum going, and then anything can happen.

We should also recognize that revolutions oftentimes just happen, they are perhaps the most unpredictable of variables.

"A consequence of the Administration's failed strategy in Iraq has been to strengthen Iran's strategic position; reduce U.S. credibility and influence in the region; and place Israel and other nations friendly to the United States in greater peril," according to a text of a speech Obama delivered to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

The Bush administration recently altered its position, with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice saying this week that the U.S. is willing to talk to Iran on security in Iraq.

Obama also emphasized in his speech his commitment to protecting the security of Israel, which he called "our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy."

"Our job is to renew the United States' efforts to help Israel achieve peace with its neighbors while remaining vigilant against those who do not share this vision," Obama said.

<snip>

But Obama focused on Iran Friday, calling President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's regime "a threat to all of us."

<snip>

"While we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons," Obama said.
