Anybody know what happen with the earthquakes last night ?
Can't find any info. KGO reported late last night that many police officers and others saw a huge fireball in the sky and called it in, then moments later the 4.2 jolt/earthquake was felt.

3. But why would ALL the media avoid talking about a meteorite?
No press is covering this at all. Seems just a bit more important than a funeral in the Bahamas to me, as well as some of the other BS sensational human dis-interest stories that are being pumped out.

7. AFAIK, KGO is the only news outlet with the meteorite/sky flash story.
I'm too far away to have seen anything and was a tad busy wondering how high the house would jump at the time, but I think that in the daylight people would have noticed an impact site in Lafayette, especially since the epicenter is not far from a public high school and this isn't a rural area.

The phenomenon is known to happen.

As for the quake itself...

SAN FRANCISCO Mar 2, 2007 (AP)— A magnitude-4.2 earthquake struck the San Francisco
Bay area Thursday night, rattling residents' nerves but causing no major damage or
injuries.

The temblor struck at 8:40 p.m. and was centered a mile northeast of the East Bay town

which could be felt by residents throughout the region, lasted between 10 to 15 seconds.

6. I know about earthquake lightning... the reports that were coming in though...
Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 12:22 PM by Patmccccc
were reports of something large falling from the sky. In fact it was mentioned that they were looking into aircraft crash possibilities as it was what appeard to be a fireball, and that this happened right BEFORE the earthquake(s).
