are that high. I get my gas at Costco so it's still less than that there.

4. I saw those prices in SLO... from the train!
Had business take me from L.A. to the S.F. Bay Area -- found out an Amtrak ticket was half the total cost of what gas would be...

I decided to "mass transit" it...

Though if I make the run up north with my boys this summer, $4.00 + will have me (though it probably will in L.A. by then, too...)

9. Amtrak
I wonder how long Amtrak will stay so low. They run lots of buses.

I'm taking them to Vegas in September, but I already have my ticket.

15. Isn't it pathetic that in this country the train service is
Edited on Thu May-01-08 11:58 AM by LibDemAlways
sometimes a bus?

Years ago I took Amtrak (a train) from LA to Vegas. It was slow, and kept pulling off onto side tracks to let freight trains by, but at least it existed. Nowadays, it's car, bus, or fly. We're regressing.

17. This trip has "half bus" -- we switched at SLO. And we only have good service here in Cali because
...the state, pre-Arnie budget crisis, chips in heavily.

And now what we need rail infrastructure more than ever, what will happen?

"Mission accomplished?"

24. The train from LA to Vegas still runs
I'm going from Oakland. I have to take a train to Bakersfield and then a bus to Vegas. Pathetic, but I'm not giving those crooks who run the airlines any of my money, and there's something I must attend in Vegas.

I almost gave up taking the train from Emeryville to Reno because of the delays caused by the freight trains. It's a crying shame because that's an awesome trip when it goes right.

The self-serve Shell across the street from my office is at $3.99.9, 4.19.9, and 4.29.9. This is Oaktown.

This has to work toward the Dems' advantage, but in the meantime, people are hurting.

8. $3.79 for gas
$4.63 for diesel! I used to park my gas pickup unless I had to haul a big load, and use my older diesel which gets better mileage, and last year diesel was lower than gas. Now this year I parked both of them. The diesel will be used for plowing snow again come winter, but if the price doesn't got down, it is going to cost a lot more to keep the roads cleaned of next winter!

10. Two weeks, now.
Reg Unleaded has been at $4 for almost two weeks.

But we're in Marin, so who cares.

Much more of this and we'll be sitting in cold tubs, eating pre-wrapped slices of American.

Fuck a bunch of wine-swilling, brie-eating hot-tubbers.

instead of using alternative fuel options to wean us off the use of oil. Of course this Congress is for the corporations and to hell with the environment. We are oil junkies.

19. Tsk. Come on down to Santa Barbara/Goleta. It's been $4.09 for a couple of weeks at Shell.
I think it went up again but I'd have to go have a look. It sure hasn't gone down.

The Shell at my corner tends to be in the medium range -- there's a couple of stations right at major freeway offramps that charge a lot more and I avoid them. The Exxon across the intersection (still at my corner) is less than Shell, so I fill up there.

I didn't wait until my tank was empty this time so the sticker shock wouldn't be so bad, but it still cost me 50 bucks to fill up my Honda Accord. Gaaaah.
