Anti affirmative action activist recruits minutemen to help gather petitions in MO
As though Ward Connerly's klan-backed effort to scrap affirmative action programs in our state wasn't absurd enough on its face from the very beginning, it is each day reaching ever higher levels of lunacy.

As a political blogger from the Arizona Republic reports today, Connerly has begun actively recruiting vigilante border-watchers from the San Diego "Minutemen" hate group to come to Missouri and gather signatures to help his foundering ballot initiative effort:

Connerly...has contacted leaders of the 800-member San Diego Minutemen saying he needs about 50 more circulators if the initiative campaign is to reach its signature goal by the May 4 deadline, according to an e-mail between leaders and “MM friends and allies.”

The trip is being pitched as a “1-2 week paid ‘vacation.’” Travel and meals would be paid for. And like professional circulators, Minutemen would receive a small fee for each signature they collect.

The story goes on to note that San Diego Minutemen aren't even eligible to circulate the same petition in much-closer Arizona, since --unlike Missouri, at least for now-- that state has laws that prevent non-resident circulators from passing petitions.
