Impeach or may God Damn America Please..
"God Damn America?" articulates very well how I feel about America and Americans at present with impeachment not on the table and the time for it running out.

::::::::

As an atheist I don't think God hears my prayers but I suspect the function of public prayer is to tell others what one is feeling.

God Damn America! (exclamation mark not question) will be how I think many in the world will feel, and should feel, if George W Bush that torturing, treaty breaking example of American hypocrisy and indecency is not impeached and his example is allowed to stand.

If Bush is not impeached American parents will not be able to tell their children honestly that crime doesn't pay, or that on planet earth that the Good guys win, because reality will contradict them. Whether the good guys win and whether crime pays depends on the citizen and more specificially on whether there are enough good, decent citizens to breath life into the law.

If Bush is not impeached then I will have seen in my lifetime the clearest possible evidence that at the highest possible levels human beings, especially those in the United States of America are profoundly corrupt.

1. There's an argument to be made
for just letting him go. First of all, if he is certain that he will face consequences he still has 9 months to really screw the country to take his revenge pre-emptively. Second, after he is gone we are better off spending our energies repairing the damage he's done rather than seeking revenge.

He is and will always be the worst president in the history of the US.

He had a lot of help getting where he is. What do we do about all his helpers?

7. Its an interesting argument.
Failure in repose failure ala carte and I think its fine. One of the beautiful things of it is that nobody can blame us for their own policies screwing up, and I kinda like that.

8. "He is and will always be the worst president in the history of the US"?
And if we don't Impeach him we will go down as the worst, most cowardly US population ever. He is an idiot and a madman, but what does it make US for letting him get away with murder?

the global system called "capitalism" guarantees it.

we're in a class war and the oligarchs are winning everywhere. Amurka is just firstest with the mostest.

5. It Goes Beyond Impeachment...These Are War Criminals
This country...and especially our corporate media...remains in strict denial of the crimes this regime has committed...while every day more evidence surfaces of yet another scandal. The crimes aren't just the acts of two individuals, but a whole enterprise that used the past 7 years to root itself deeply in all areas of the government and created a syndicate that has permitted so much of these crimes not only to take place, but to cover them up as well. And who can we count on prosecuting these crimes? A DOJ that is still in gridlock and full of Monica Goodlings and her acolytes? Also, any indictment is sure to be met with a quick pardon...and this regime will do everything it can to stonewall and obstruct any investigation. The information we've gotten so far has mostly leaked out...that leak could turn into a torrent once this regime is removed and its party is fully beaten in November.

One major concern I have is that this country fails to learn the lesson of Watergate...that the scandal didn't end when Nixon was forced out. Many of the criminals who operated under his syndicate were allowed to go free and re-invented themselves to do far greater damage. The corruption has to be rooted out...on 1-20-09 there needs to be a thorough cleaning of the executive (especially the DOJ) and let the real investigations begin. I know it's a long time to wait, but justice delayed is better than no justice at all.

Our mission must be to never forget the crimes and criminals and to push for both reformation within our own system and action and cooperation with international courts that can't ignore the war crimes that have occured.
