1. A "true" Conservative.
And nothing more. Not necessarily a woman nor a minority. He needs the conservative before he can think of gaining indys or women or minorities.

2. I think they are mostly lost
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 07:46 PM by Juche
Seeing how McCain is anti-choice and anti birth control, and if president could eventually overturn Roe v wade he'd have a problem getting women. And blacks aren't going to vote R anyway. With Latinos, with all the racist overtones coming out of the GOP recently I think they have ruined their chances. Before Bush latinos went dem about 70-80% of hte time, under Bush it was about 55-60, now it is 70-80 again due to all the racism and hatred against immigration.

He'll probably pick a neocon though. Someone in tight with the religious right.

What a despicable human being he is!!!

And, if you recall --- how effective he was!!!

He wanted to run for prez for a while this cycle ---

14. I think he is running.
He has come out with a new stance on global warming. Guess what? It's real and caused by humans.

Newt is shamelss and will play attack dog for a man he knows is stricken with questionable age and health. McLame needs him. I hope he picks someone else, though.

12. He is rumored to be gay.
I doubt McLame would chose him. He needs to secure his conservative base first and foremost, Crist won't do it.

25. I'm going to vote Lieberman
The close bond that he and McCain seem to have formed over the occupation of Iraq, their shared ambitions of attacking Iran, Lieberman's attacks on Obama, and, most importantly, Lieberman's consideration of giving the keynote address at the GOP convention a la 2004 Zell Miller makes it pretty clear, at least to me, that he is angling for the job. Plus, they are both considered (by people who don't know either of them that well) to be "independent" which McCain might use to his advantage in courting moderates. That being said, however, the Republican party in general might be even more suspicious of McCain putting a former Democrat (VP candidate no less) on the ticket and McCain, not wanting to "ruffle feathers" with the all-important conservative base would probably end up deciding against it. However, they both seem to be "kindred spirits" these days, most notably on keeping the fires burning in the middle east.
