Some context to balance the Penn & Teller video being spammed here.

3. Beijing Bob was here yesterday, let me give you an exact quote and no, no one slipped you
a hallucinogen.

Because They Love Freedom?

Because they want to spread freedom and democracy around the world .... from Iraq to Tibet .... and of course all of Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

Will any groups be organizing a demonstration in support of the CIA's operations in Tibet?

2. Time Mag in the 50's lied in order to "fight communism" - read protect rich - no question Tibet lost
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 10:42 AM by papau
freedom - but when they had that freedom in the 40's and early 50's it was the usual rich (called "nobles") and their families who had legal slaves and serfs - indeed that was the civilization "lost" because of China - serfs and slaves.

I totally support freedom (read autonomy) for Tibet - but not a return to the 40's slavery.

4. My Girlfriend Grew Up in China
and she remembers they were told that the Tibetans were enslaved and that the Chinese government was helping them. I figured it was communist propaganda, but given the slavery issue you mention there might have been a grain of truth there.
