Yet another reason to be glad Lieberman is no longer a Democrat
His campaign blamed the Ned Lamont campaign for crashing Lieberman's website in 2006:

The site crash occurred in the run-up to Mr. Lamont's upset victory over Mr. Lieberman in the August Democratic primary. But Mr. Lieberman managed to win re-election as an independent in November. In December, the authorities declared that the site had not been hacked, but did not confirm that it had simply been overloaded, as seemed likely.

Now it appears the culprit was indeed a badly configured site and too much e-mail traffic, according to an Oct. 25, 2006, F.B.I. e-mail message turned over to The Advocate in response to its freedom-of-information filing.

"The server that hosted the joe2006.com Web site failed because it was overutilized and misconfigured," the e-mail memo said. "There was no evidence of (an) attack." According to the memo, the site crashed because Lieberman officials continually exceeded a configured limit of 100 e-mails per hour the night before the primary, The Advocate reported.

Looks like the FBI never bothered to notify the Lamont campaign - but then again, neither did the Lieberman campaign. Nice.

1. anecdotal LIEberman story:
i was in the NYC area visiting my family over the past weekend. my sister lives in Stamford CT and I stayed with her.

on Saturday morning she was taking her fitness walk, and saw a very familiar looking man and his wife walking by. the man greeted her. she realized upon his greeting that they were Joe and Hadassah, presumably walking to attend temple.

she is not an in-your-face type, so she didn't say anything. i said that i would have asked him how his hand puppet McCrazy was doing. as we were going later in the day to visit our mom, i said, "you know, Mom will say that she would have yelled 'TRAITOR!' if she'd been there.

when she related the story to our mom, indeed, she said "i wish *i* had been there, *i* would have said to him, TRAITOR!"
:bounce: yay Mom!!!

we went back to Stamford in the late afternoon. my sister, being in a somewhat manic phase about getting in shape for an upcoming trip, decided she had to walk off the pizza we'd had with Mom.

she comes back to report that who did she see walking around AGAIN, but Joe and Hadassah??

she asked me where i thought he was going, i said, "campaining. must have been the reform temple this morning, and the orthodox temple this evening."

i honestly would not be surprised to see LIEberman as McCrazy's veep nominee.... :puke:

PS: my alternate greeting to Joe would have been "Ned called, he wants his job!"
