As my first post I want to do something that will promote the planet and share this great video/slide show with everyone so you'll watch Gore's new video which was filmed in March. It's been rated as jaw-dropping, inspiring, informative and you can rate it when you've finished watching it. You can make the video screen larger by clicking on the little screen icon in the upper right corner.

2. Does anyone else here feel like crying when they see or hear Al Gore? He could have been our Pres.
for these past seven years, if it weren't for election fraud in Florida and a blatantly partisan decision by the Supreme Court.

3. He could have been for the next 8 years too if he had put out the effort.
Because he's head and shoulder's above the twerps we are left with.

19. But, he might yet be
A number of us from DU have formed a Yahoo group organizing to suggest to super delegates that they consider Gore as a unifying candidate if it looks like the convention is going to be deadlocked. Please join us at http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/DraftGore08/.

Gore's nomination is a distince possibility given the way the primary season has been going. And, he brings a background to the Democratic race not seen in either of the other two candidates. Plus, by the time the primaries are over, both Hillary and Barack are going to be seriously weakened by the attacks on each other that it is entirely likely that McCain could be the winner in Nov.

Stop by at the Yahoo group site and take a look. Can't hurt any.

4. Tremendously important. I do wish people would get the focus OFF Al and ONTO the crisis.
I love Al, I adore Al, my heart belongs to Al but you are entirely missing his point if you focus on him instead of on the crisis.

:(

8. i'm talking about "something" that actually makes a difference...
on a global scale.

we're still pumping more carbon into the air every year than the year before.
we're still making cars than burn petroleum.
and on and on and on...

whatever you're doing- it ain't gonna be enough.

7. Gore's message is that we need to put the pressure on
And he's right. So it really is up to us to make sure the next administration takes the lead. If you watch the video you'll see that there is hope. Change a lightbulb and recycle. Then you'll be doing something.

9. i've had compact flourescents for years, and have recycled for even longer...
but somehow, the earth is STILL barrelling toward (or is it past?) the tipping point.

damn.

11. Well, that's great. Keep it up
It's not like we have much of a choice about what we're going to do. It's only a matter of how long it will take to make real progress. On this issue every person counts. Every action taken now makes it easier for others to take action. Cheer up and hang in there. We're all in this together, for real.

13. you really don't get it do you...?
"feel good" measures aren't NEARLY enough.
if we stopped all carbon output tomorrow, the planet would continue to warm for four decades, due to the carbon already present in the atmosphere.
and we aren't going to stop carbon output anytime soon.

we are headed for some VERY interesting times.
i'm already 47- i just hope i live to see some of the really SPECTACULAR stuff...!

15. You're wrong. I do get it.
It's too bad you feel the need to belittle those who are doing what they can. Yes, the climate will change, but if we do nothing then it won't stop changing till we get as hot as Venus. There is bad, and there is worse.

16. when you piss into the wind, all you get is wet.
do any and everything that makes you feel good- but don't kid yourself that it's making any kind of meaningful difference- it isn't.

taking a dump on someone else's post. Give up you and keep whining. That'll fix everything. By the way thanks for making my post sink like a rock. They say shit floats but yours obviously doesn't.

18. you're right about that- my shit actually DOESN'T float...
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 04:53 PM by QuestionAll
the meds i take for my chronic condition causes my stool to have almost no water content, so my feces sink like little rocks(because of the lack of water, it doesn't stick together in a big gooey clump- it's more like rabbit turds- only bigger)...it's fun to flush, and then listen to them rattle their crappy little selves like so many marbles along and down the pvc toward the septic tank.

btw- where was i "whining"...?...i'd say that sounds like a better description of your post to which i'm in the process of replying- although if you're reading this, i obviously already have. :hi:

It's absolutely wonderful documentary that compliments Al Gore's phenomenal work.
