how U of C at Berkeley can possible defend keeping a war criminal like John Yoo on its faculty? I just don't understand it...

Seriously.

I can understand hiring them strictly to teach hairbrain political philosophy 101, but nothing else.

3. Government funding
Over the last couple of decades, the GOP has been arm-twisting every University into hiring GOPers for their boards/staff and threatening removal of governmental grants if Universities do not comply.
