Frank Rich: Our soldiers were killed this weekend because of a Shiite vs. Shiite civil war
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 07:58 AM by NNN0LHI
He just said this on MSNBC.

Is this guy on drugs?

More like it was Bush's Shiite controlled puppet government hiding out in the Green Zone against anti-occupation Shiite militias.

Bush's US backed Iraqi collaborators against anti-occupation non-collaborators.

That is no civil war. Not even close.

Does Frank Rich think we are all idiots?

1. The unintended? consequences of a war of aggression built on lies!
"Does Frank Rich think we are all idiots?" OR, is he just perpetuating the lying?

2. That's weird. Rich was critical of Bush way before
most media types were.

3. This IS now a civil war.
We toppled Hussein, the only lunatic who was ruthless enough to keep these factions from murdering one another like they are now. This is the inevitable consequence that will continue until we leave and another savage dictator will become Saddam II (until we "liberate" the country from him, also).

4. So if China invades us and fires our military, police and government and installs its own...
...we will be in a civil war too?

Don't think so.

We will be under military occupation just like the Iraqis are.

And some Americans would collaborate with the Chinese too.

Still wouldn't be a civil war by any stretch of the imagination.

5. No no, I'm not minimizing the profound anger at our presence over there.
But it is simply a fact that the Shia and Sunni tribes have hated one another for millennia. Saddam's ruthless police-state was what prevented them from killing one another.

6. You fell for the bullshit
It was very common to have Sunnis and Shiites intermarrying in Iraq.

Some poorer cities in Iraq had only one mosque which was shared by Sunnis and Shiites.

They fought and died together fighting the Iranians in a long bloody war.

7. I haven't fallen for any bullshit.
I know that many of them see beyond the tribalistic bullshit and can get along. There are, however, the lunatics on both sides who are willing to do horrific things to one another and make life miserable for everyone else.

9. And if the Chinese came here and exploited our racial and religious divides same thing would happen
We have our lunatics right here (on both sides) who would join right in.

There is nothing unique only to Iraq.

10. When did I say it was unique?
I'm stating a fact based on current actions.
China coming here has nothing to do with it.

8. Civil war or not, they are fighting for power ( I would call that a civil war)
And our troops are stuck in the middle of it.

11. U.S.-backed Iraqi troops kind of says it all doesn't it?
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 10:02 AM by NNN0LHI
We are stuck in nothing. We are inserting ourselves into another countries business.

That is no civil war. It is an odious and illegal military occupation.

Can't put lipstick on this pig.
