I still miss his great reporting.

The NBC journalist's death was possibly caused by the hours he spent reporting cramped in an Army vehicle -- just another way war kills...

1. Thank you for the reminder. We have put up with five
years of this crap, and lost so many good people.

2. Yes, and I wish I could say what I wish would happen...
to the people involved whom I wish I could name. And I wish I were above wishing it. But I'm not.

3. David Bloom was one of the good ones...
I still have recordings of his reporting from lower Manhattan on 9/12/01. Thanks for remembering this.

4. It hit me while watching the MLK special on CNN...
they said King was 39 when he died, and I remembered that Bloom was, too, and that it had happened in April. So I Googled it, and it turned out to be 5 yrs ago today.

6. Soledad was Bloom's co-host on the weekend Today show...
...tonight's CNN special on Dr King was very well done by her. I stopped watching CNN's morning show when they axed her in favor of a Faux News flunkie. She was pulled only a week after her interview of Tony Snow (this is my YouTube entry featuring the interview):

7. "Soledad was Bloom's co-host..."
That could have been a subconscious trigger, too. I remember that interview, too.

8. Yes, but Bloom was always a straight reporter.
Even though he was "embedded."
