U.S. President George W. Bush honours Miami's championship basketball team

February 27, 2007
Canadian Press: BEN FELLER

WASHINGTON (AP) - Everything was going fine until U.S. President George W. Bush dropped the ball.

Bush honoured the Miami Heat championship basketball team on Tuesday, joking with the team in his usual manner. But Shaquille O'Neal got the last laugh when Bush tried to bounce a basketball to the seven-foot-one star. It thudded flat on the stage. Bush looked startled as O'Neal and his teammates laughed.

.....

"Standing next to Shaq," Bush said, "is an awe-inspiring experience."

What an unmitigated failure.

5. Doesn't he have a job?
So we lost God knows how many Americans yesterday (3 or 6),
the Vice President had an attempt on his life, and he goes for
a photo op w/ a team that won the title 9 months ago?

what a total disgrace to the office he never won.

20. Did someone let some air out of that basketball?
Which one of the Miami Heat did that? Maybe Bush should just stick to waving pom-poms or yelling into a megaphone.

16. Shaq has done some very nce things ....
.... In LA after fans rioted after a championship and burned some
cop cars he went and bought the police brand new cars

.... when a gay man was being assaulted by a couple of men Shaq,
chased them down and held them until the police came to arrest them.

..... When a women was being assaulted he stopped that and put the
man under arrest (he is a volunteer deputy) and turned him over to the
cops.

.... He gave and helped raise millions for Katrina victims.

.... He won 3 championships in LA until Kobe got too big of an ego ...
he went to the Heat and said we win a championship and then did
just that.
